“Savannah!” Jeremy’s voice cut through the tension.

A loud slap rang out. Savannah had struck her own cheek without hesitation. She met Darin’s eyes. “This is for your sister. If it’s not enough, I can do it again.”

Darin’s face stayed unreadable. He turned to Jeremy. “Mr. Milman, let’s leave it at that.”

“We’re going.”

Max slid his arm around Andrea’s waist and the two of them started to leave.

Savannah handed her purse to Felicia. “Didn’t you have something to give back to Miss Curtis?”

Felicia snapped back to the moment, took the bag, and pulled out the pearl. She walked up to Andrea. “I’m not throwing away your trash for you, Miss Curtis. You should do it yourself.”

Andrea glared at her with icy eyes, not moving to take it.

Suddenly, a large hand reached out and grabbed the pearl from Felicia’s palm. Felicia froze, her hand still in the air.

Without a word, Max tossed the pearl into the trash can, then took Andrea’s hand and walked away with her.

Darin gave Felicia a glance, then turned away and followed them. Felicia stayed where she was, arm still raised, as if she hadn’t realized everyone was leaving.

Savannah stepped up and touched Felicia’s arm gently. “Felicia.”

Felicia slowly lowered her hand.

“Let’s get back to our room,” Jeremy said.

Back in their private room, Savannah couldn’t hold it in anymore. “Felicia, are you and Max married?”

Felicia just nodded, her voice lost somewhere inside her. She clearly didn’t want to talk.

Savannah spoke up again, not ready to let it go. “There are plenty of men out there. It’s not like they’re rare. Why should we always be the ones to stay loyal while they get to play around? We can play their game too.”

Anthony rolled his eyes. “You do realize there are two guys here, right?”

Savannah perked up. “Oh, am I wrong? How many girlfriends are you on now?” She started counting on her fingers, then held up her hand. “It’s got to be at least five hundred by now.”

Anthony laughed, shaking his head. “Now you’re just exaggerating. Five hundred? Why not make it five thousand? And for the record, I take my relationships seriously. I’m not a player.”

Savannah huffed. “Same difference.”

“No, it’s not.”

Their playful arguing seemed to lighten the mood. Felicia even felt a little better listening to them.

“By the way, Savannah,” she asked, “what exactly happened between you and Andrea?” The way things felt, it was more than just a simple grudge. It probably had something to do with Andrea’s brother.
