A chill entered Alexander's eyes as he stared at Nathan.

He knew Nathan was trapped by his own obsessions; nothing he said would get through.

Staying any longer would be a waste of time. He wouldn't get any more useful information.

Without another word, he slowly stood up.

Nathan's head snapped up, his eyes still burning with resentment, but he didn't shout this time. He just glared at Alexander's departing back.

Alexander didn't pause, walking straight toward the exit and leaving the hateful stare behind him.

As Alexander reached the end of the hallway, a familiar voice called out from the side. "President Davidson, long time no see."

He stopped and turned to see Harold Chapman leaning against the wall, dressed in a well-tailored charcoal suit. His hands were in his pockets, and a knowing smile played on his lips.

Harold had been his business rival for years. They had clashed countless times, both openly and behind the scenes, and knew each other's tactics and ambitions inside and out.

Running into him here, of all places—

"Mr. Chapman," Alexander acknowledged with a slight nod, his tone neutral. "I didn't expect to see you here."

Harold pushed himself off the wall and ambled over to Alexander. His eyes lingered on Alexander's face for a moment before he smiled. "What a coincidence. I'm here to see Nathan."

"We were business partners, after all. I never would have guessed he was capable of kidnapping a national engineer. Quite the surprise."

Alexander scoffed inwardly but kept his expression impassive.

He and Harold were long-standing rivals; there was no such thing as a "powerful alliance" between them.

This proposal was either a guise to gather intelligence on The Davidson Group or a setup to sabotage them and seize their market share.

"You certainly have a sharp eye for business, Mr. Chapman," Alexander said, a hint of sarcasm in his voice. "However, The Davidson Group's focus is elsewhere at the moment. We have no plans for such a partnership."

He rejected the offer flat out, leaving no room for negotiation.

Harold's smile faltered for a second before he recovered.
