Slamming the car door shut, Natalie screamed into the phone.

"Natalie, I'm taking Kristin for a paternity test tomorrow," Hamilton's calm voice drifted through the speaker.

"I refuse!"

"I wasn't asking for your permission. I'm telling you. If Kristin is truly my daughter, I will make sure she comes home to me!"

"Hamilton, why can't you just leave me alone!"

"If you can't bear to be apart from her, you're welcome to come back too."

"Never!"

Hamilton's breathing grew heavy with anger. "Natalie, I am not giving up on Kristin. As for you, make your own choice."

The line went dead.

Natalie slammed her fists against the steering wheel in blind rage. She had to get her daughter back, but what could she do? Who could possibly help her?

Penelope was her first thought. She frantically dialed her number, but the call wouldn't connect. Then it hit her—Penelope had mentioned she was flying out of town for a business trip today. She was likely thousands of feet in the air or stuck in a boardroom.

She knew Penelope would call her the second she saw the missed calls, but she couldn't afford to wait. Kristin was with Hamilton. She had to be terrified and feeling completely alone.

Natalie tried calling Hamilton again, but he ignored it. Left with no other options, she drove straight to his mansion. When she arrived, the staff told her he wasn't home.

Refusing to believe them, she shoved her way inside and searched the entire house. He really wasn't there.

Where could he be?

She immediately thought of the Amos family estate, but when she arrived, the servants blocked the iron gates.

"Mrs. Amos has made it clear that Ms. Taylor is not welcome here."

"My daughter, Kristin. Is she in there?"

The servants practically shoved her away from the property line, refusing to answer.
