Leaving the hospital behind, he drove straight to the Stapleton family estate.

The estate consisted of two grand manors. One originally belonged to Mr. Stapleton Sr. and his late wife, while the other was occupied by Marico's parents.

After his wife passed away, Mr. Stapleton Sr. resumed traveling the world, leaving the first manor empty. In the sprawling estate, Marico's parents were now the sole occupants.

When he walked through the door, the courtyard and the ground floor were completely empty. Not even the staff were around. He went straight up to the second floor, only to find his father rummaging frantically through the drawers—a strange sight, considering he was usually at the office at this hour.

“Have you found it yet? It's past ten! If we delay any longer, we won't have time for the checkup!” his mother's voice called out from the bedroom.

“I'm looking! I swear I tossed the pregnancy booklet right into this drawer the day we got it. Where did it go?” Jonas Stapleton muttered, scratching his head.

Pregnancy booklet?

Marico frowned. Who the hell was pregnant in this house?

“I'm pregnant, so my memory is naturally foggy! What's your excuse?”

“I'm just too excited!” Jonas couldn't stop grinning. “Who would have thought that at our age, we could still conceive naturally? Even the doctor was impressed with me.”

“It has nothing to do with you. It's because I've taken such good care of myself all these years.”

“Right, right, we're both amazing. Anyway, this baby is coming at the perfect time. Marico is a lost cause, and we definitely can't rely on him in the future. Once this little one is born, we have to educate them properly. We absolutely cannot let them turn out like Marico.”

Just as Jonas finished his sentence, the sound of slow clapping echoed behind him. Startled, he spun around, only to receive a second shock at the sight of Marico standing there.
