Liamcalled her directly.

“My dear, where did you see this necklace?”

His usually playful and lazy voice now carried a hint of seriousness.

Liliana’s heart leaped into her throat. She immediately thought, “Does this have something to do with your brother’s accidental death?”

“You’re smarter than you look.”

Liam paused for a moment, then explained in his languid tone, “I’ve been investigating ever since my brother died. I don’t believe that woman, Isabella, didn’t have a hand in it.”

“And guess what I found?”

“What did you find?”

Liliana’s heart pounded in her chest, a knot of tension forming in her stomach.

Liliana was speechless.

Her brief excitement deflated instantly.

She was about to hang up, her face devoid of expression. “Are you insane?”

Liam chuckled, stopping her. “I was serious when I said I found nothing, but it’s not a complete dead end.”

“The last time my brother went skydiving with Isabella, she was the one who contacted the company that provided the equipment.”

“I looked into it. It’s an international security firm, and the owner wears this exact necklace.”

Liliana frowned. “You suspect she knows the owner and they colluded to tamper with the equipment beforehand?”

“It’s just a theory.”

Liam’s lazy voice came through the phone, tinged with a barely perceptible edge of hostility.

Liliana fell silent.

She said calmly, “I don’t plan on getting involved in this investigation any further. I value my life, and this has nothing to do with me.”

“All I can tell you is that I met a man wearing that necklace today. His name is Edward Nightfall, and he’s the behind-the-scenes owner of an international talent agency that works in the entertainment industry.”

But she couldn’t really argue with him.

She really had been a love-struck fool before.

Liliana felt a wave of disdain for her past self.

She pursed her lips. “Helping you get the child means I’d have to deal with Linton.”
