When Liam returned to the apartment, Liliana was curled up on the couch, munching on a bag of snacks.
Seeing the potato chips in her hand, Liam paused, his lazy, roguish voice tinged with a low chuckle. "Where did you find these, Liliana? Go easy on them, or you won't have room for dinner."
He carried the shopping bags into the kitchen, then turned back and plucked the chip bag from her hands, raising an eyebrow.
Liliana blinked in confusion. "Didn't you buy them?" She looked at the lean young man standing before her, hesitating. "There was a delivery at the door just now. I saw your name on it, so I assumed you ordered it online."
At her words, Liam asked, "Where's the box?"
"Over there." Liliana gestured vaguely towards the kitchen, still puzzled. "So... you didn't buy this?"
Liam glanced over and saw the shipping box overflowing with snacks and pastries. Many of them were specialty items from Crownport, all in flavors Liliana loved.
Liam's jaw tightened, a humorless smile on his face. He hadn't ordered any snacks online for Liliana. He wasn't sure what she liked and was afraid he'd buy something she wouldn't eat. This box of snacks, however, was curated perfectly to her tastes.
He didn't have to think twice to know whose handiwork this was.
"Tsk."
He turned back to Liliana, a smile plastered on his face, his voice light. "I did buy them. Glad you got them."
Liliana blinked again, a feeling that something wasn't quite right, but she quickly dismissed it. "Thanks," she said with a grin. "You know my tastes surprisingly well. These are all things I've loved since I was a kid. I never get tired of them. Did you ask my brother?"
Bored, Liliana stood just outside the kitchen and watched him unload the shopping bags. Ribs, chicken wings, lotus root, cauliflower... Every single item was one of her favorites, without exception.
A flicker of curiosity crossed her eyes, and she couldn't resist asking again, "How did you know what I like to eat? Did my brother tell you this, too?"
Liam had overestimated himself and underestimated Linton. And the feeling... tsk, it wasn't as pleasant as he'd imagined.
Liam slowly lowered his gaze, a smile still on his face. "You could say that."
"What do you mean, 'you could say that'?" Liliana couldn't help but press, tearing open a bag of chocolate-flavored cookies and popping one into her mouth with cheerful abandon.
