Liliana's mind was in turmoil.

She huddled on the sofa, clutching a box of cookies, and began to question her entire existence.

Her brother...

No.

She shook her head violently, a flicker of genuine fear in her eyes. It was better not to think about it. The more she thought, the more horrifying it became. Even a brief thought was terrifying!

*Ding-dong.*

The doorbell rang again.

Liliana froze for a moment, then called out from her position on the sofa to the man busy in the kitchen, "Liam, exactly how much stuff did you and my brother buy?" This was the third delivery already.

Liam flashed a grin, his back still turned to her, though his handsome face was clouded with frustration. His voice was lazy, the nonchalant tone unwavering. "Not much. Just keep accepting them for now." He'd throw it all out later. Liam's eyes darkened, and he let out a cold, humorless chuckle.

Liliana dragged the next box inside. This one was heavier. When she opened it, she found it was full of nutritional supplements for pregnant women. There were bottles and jars of all sizes, many from brands she'd never even seen before. Judging by the packaging, they were all expensive, high-quality products.

Liliana rubbed her chin, lost in thought. Despite the earlier awkwardness, her brother's intentions were good. He hadn't been too angry after finding out about her pregnancy. Not only had he not yelled at her, but he had also gone to the trouble of buying and shipping all these things from so far away.

She examined the supplements more closely. They were all in flavors that she liked—chocolate, strawberry, mango... all her favorites.

Liliana stared at it. She noticed a card tucked into the bouquet. A message was written on it: "You've worked hard. Happy early Mother's Day."

She froze for a second. Assuming it was also from Gabriel, the hardness in her eyes softened immediately, and a bright, gentle smile spread across her lips.

Who doesn't love receiving flowers? Her brother really was thoughtful. He had specifically chosen carnations and had even found someone to write the blessing in her native language while she was in a foreign country.

Liliana lifted the bouquet to her nose and took a gentle sniff. The light, fresh scent of the flowers was fragrant and uplifting. She found a vase, carefully arranged the carnations, and placed them on the balcony where they could get plenty of sunlight. Liam helped her move the giant teddy bear to the bed in her bedroom. It was incredibly soft and plush.

Liliana tried lying back on it and sank into its fluffy embrace. She closed her eyes contentedly, feeling utterly comfortable. It seemed perfect for leaning against while reading or working.
