Liliana had heard all this from her mother over the phone.

Worried, Mrs. Hart had called and said, "The situation in Crownport was bad before, so your brother wouldn't let me come see you. But it's calmed down a bit now, not as tense, so I can finally come visit. I don't want you to be all alone abroad during your pregnancy, unable to take care of yourself."

Liliana had wanted to say that she wasn't really alone. Her brother had arranged for people to look after her.

She had to admit, her brother and Liam were surprisingly good at caring for a pregnant woman. Everything they ordered online and had delivered to her was perfect, exactly what she liked.

Liliana never lacked for food, drinks, or clothes. Every snack was a favorite, every outfit was to her taste. And with no one clinging to her like a leech, her days were peaceful and carefree.

Liliana pulled herself out of her thoughts, her expression resigned. "My brother won't let me go back, and I don't dare to on my own."

"Anyway, it's safer here. My brother hired bodyguards to protect me."

At the mention of them, Helena couldn't help but glance back again at the group of men in black suits discreetly following them from the corners. She clicked her tongue. "Good thing your brother's rich enough to hire so many people to protect you."

After they finished shopping, a dedicated driver and security detail drove them from the mall. In the car, Helena smiled. "Liliana, seeing you're okay sets my mind at ease. After I drop you off, I'm going to continue my vacation."

Helena's work as a surgeon was demanding, and she rarely had time to travel. This trip was a specially requested leave, mainly to visit her best friend and have a little fun on the side. If Liliana weren't pregnant and unable to travel much, Helena would have taken her along.

As she was about to leave, Helena couldn't resist a bit of gossip.

"Mr. Grayson only had one son, Logan. Now that Isabella has disappeared with the child, the Grayson family is going crazy, searching all over the world for them, but with no luck."

Helena found the whole thing bizarre. "It's so strange, don't you think? Where could Isabella have gone with a child, away from the influence of the Cooper and Grayson families? So many people are looking for her, and yet there's not a single clue."

Liliana lowered her eyes. She remembered Liam saying he had been searching everywhere for weeks with no news either. Who knew where she was being hidden, or by whom.

Liliana just hoped that Isabella would never appear before her again and would stay far away from her and her baby.

Helena shook her head again, then remembered something else, a note of amusement in her voice. "Liliana, did you know? A lot of people in Crownport are spreading a rumor now."

"They're saying that the accident that led to Matthew's death... was orchestrated by Isabella!"
