The "present" Michael was talking about was a luxury yacht.

I'd heard about this yacht.

Two months ago, he spent a fortune on it. 

But I hadn't known back then. 

The only reason I found out was because Michael let it slip one night when he was drunk. 

I thought he was planning some kind of surprise for me. 

Turns out, I was the fool.

That yacht was never meant for me. 

I glanced down at the pictures Hailey had sent. 

She must have taken them in secret—Michael from every angle, unaware. 

"Michael," I said softly. 

"You told me you sent Hailey out of Verona City. Did she leave?" 

"She did."
