"Dude! Pull your head out of your-" My best friend Matt started, snapping his fingers at me, until the principle walked up beside him.

"Pull your head out of your what? Mr. Smith?" She inquired with a knowing, scolding look on her face.

"Umm. Out of your... Um... backpack?" He struggled to come up with up making his words come out as a question.

"Very well. Keep your head out of your book bag then, Mr. Jackson." The principle nodded to me with a slight smirk. I mock saluted back.

We watched in silence as he walked away.

"Pull your head out of your backpack? Really?" I laughed at him as soon as the principle turned the corner.

"Shut up. You're the one who almost ran into a fucking locker, not me. What's got you so out of it?" He mumbled walking a little faster down the crowded hall. As we walked I caught a whiff of the most intoxicating scent I've ever smelled. The luring mix of vanilla and strawberries drew me forward. I took a couple blind steps in the direction of the smell until Matt's hand on my shoulder stopped me.

"Dude wrong way!" He slapped the back of my head.

"Right." I corrected myself quickly. Fuck. I think I just found out my mate goes to this school. But do I even want to know who it is? As Matt and I entered our literature room I really let my mind wonder.

Maybe I do want a mate. My body is already aching to be with her. To feel her soft skin, run my fingers through her hair.

UGH! This is so confusing!

Go to mate! my wolf tried to command me.

No! I argued back.

Don't you want to see her? Oh she'll be so gorgeous!

Blocking him out I just kept walking. Maybe I'll see her later, then I'll decide if I want her. If not, maybe I was wrong maybe it's not my mate. You don't always find your mate right when you turn 18. I'm probably not lucky enough to have already found her.

You'll want her too! She's going to be beautiful! I can't wait to hold her. My stupid wolf daydreamed.

What happens if she's some ugly nerd? I don't want her as my mate. That would be terrible! Or if she's too weak.

My thoughts were snapped short by the teachers voice.

I made my way back to class, and took my seat. But I was unable to focus on anything our teacher taught that lesson. My mind wondered on that perfect blonde hair, blue eyed, baby faced girl. Half of me just wanted to hold her, then half of me wanted to kick her to the curb.

I have to reject her. There's no other option, I need a strong alpha female that can rule beside me. Not this weakling that the fates have cursed me with.

But God She was gorgeous.

Lexi's POV

I was walking out of my last class before the lunch break, when a hand covered my mouth and another hand wrapped around my waist effectively pulling me back. Tingles shot up my arms. I screeched into the hand. My mind was swirling with worry, yet my body wasn't even tense. My wolf was completely at ease..... Normally being caught off guard would anger her, but instead she was calm. Almost happy in a way.

"Shut up! There's no need to squeal!" A gruff voice huffed annoyed. There in front of me stood Alex Jackson. My Future Alpha, the starting quarter back, straight A student, and most heart breaking of all, the biggest player of Little Creek High School.

"I- I'm sorry." I crumpled back slightly, upset with myself for annoying him. I looked down, causing my glasses to slip down my nose slightly.

His hand reached out towards my face like he was going to hold me, but then fell back to his side. "Look me in the eyes." He commanded.

I obliged, a gasp caught in my throat, when I looked him in the eyes, my wolf howled. I pushed my glasses back up on my nose, staring at him in awe.
