It's a new start. I reminded myself. Well I might as well start new, then. For the first time I pulled out my make up bag. Mrs. Jackson had gotten it for me a long time ago, but I had never even attempted to use it.
I threw on some fresh clothes and slipped on pearl earrings. I reached for my glasses, but decided against it. I don't really need them anymore anyways, they just made me feel safer. Instead I popped in my contacts.
When I reached the living room, it was stuffed full of people. A hand reached out and caught my wrist. I turned to see the boy that had hugged me in the forest.
"Hey." I smiled at him.
"Hey Lexi, I'm John by the way." He reached out his hand to shake. I put mine into his, but instead of shaking it, he kissed it. I blushed and laughed.
"Quite the charmer I see." I raised an eyebrow at him.
"Only for you, love." He winked in a teasing manner and took my hand in his. "Come here I want you to meet my friends." He dragged me throughout the crowd, until we came to a group of really hot guys.
"Guys this is Lexi, she's staying with our pack for a while." I smiled and waved. I could feel a blush on my cheeks, I didn't typically even talk to boys, much less ones as beautiful as those in front of me.
"You can stay with me anytime." A curly haired boy answered, and winked.
"You sure you can handle me?" I joked back. They boys "ooooooooooed" and the curly haired boy blushed. I giggled, "Joking!" A blush came upon my cheeks, wondering where my sudden boldness came from.
"So I'm Rick." A tall, build blonde said. "And this is Jimmy, Riley, Cam, Dex, Greg, and last but not least, our Alpha Chase."
"We met earlier." He smiled walking to my side. "Wanna go for a walk?" He asked me. However I got the feeling that even if I had said no, he would be forcing me regardless.
"Sure." John slipped his hand from my waist, and let me go. I followed Chase silently. He gave me butterflies. The way his eyes shone, and how protective over his pack he was. I admired it. And I honestly felt bad for intruding on his land.
"I need to know your story if you are staying with us." He finally stopped and stated.
"Oh." I looked at the grass. I figured this was coming, I just didn't know if I was ready to talk about it even more. It only happened today and I haven't had any time to process all of this. I kicked a rock gently with my shoe. "So my mate rejected me, and I just decided to leave."
No words were spoken as me wrapped is arms around my waist and just held me. "I'm sorry." He finally whispered into my ear.
I pulled back and forced a smiled at him.
"Come on let's go back to the party. And if you get uncomfortable at any time, just tell me." We made our way back to the meeting, this time his hand locked around my waist in a protective manner. I think I just found myself a bodyguard. My wolf laughed lightly in the back of my mind, the first thing she's even muttered since crying this morning.
About a week later I was curled up in bed, just about to fall asleep, when a piercing pain shot in my gut. I bit my lip to keep from screaming. What the fuck? But then a new wave of even worse pain hit, I screamed bloody murder.
"What! What's wrong?" Chase came running in.
Tears rolled down my face. "It hurts so bad."
"What hurts?" He came and pulled me into his lap, stroking my hair in an almost loving manner.
