Chapter 709

Third Person’s POV

The sleep didn’t last long. A sharp knocking on the front door announced that visitors had arrived.

Lance pried his eyes open, squinting at the dim morning light outside.

Does nobody in this city sleep?he groaned. It’s the holidays. These damn wolves have zero chill.

Adelaide was already up, slipping into a silk morning gown that barely hid the faint red marks on her neck.

Welcome to the life of an Alpha, Lance. We’ve got a full schedule of social obligations today.”

The first wave was Lycan Gamma Elias and his family.

More specifically, it was his mate, Harper, who had insisted on the early start.

Elias had planned on sleeping until noon, but Harper had dragged him out of bed at dawn.

She looked radiant in a fitted navy wool suit and an expensive mink cape.

As they entered, she kept prodding Elias to pick up the pace.

When she spotted Caldwell heading out to greet them, she flashed a smile as warm as a spring breeze.

Harper was here for one reason: the Tamara Institute. She was itching to discuss the operational strategy with Adelaide.

Lately, she’d been so fired up about the project she felt twenty years younger; it had been a long time since she’d felt this kind of drive.

Lance and Adelaide joined them in the drawing room shortly after, fully dressed and polished.

They had just started the formal greetings when Harper suggested moving to a meeting room to talk shop. Right then, the butler announced another guest.

Christine from the Ironclaw Pack is here.

Harper stood up with a grin to welcome her. She had always respected Christinea shewolf

If this school was going to teach more than just etiquetteif it was going to cover combat, tactics, and actual survival skillsshe wanted to snag a spot for her daughter in the first graduating class.

She was smart enough not to bring the cub with her today. That would have looked too much like she was cornering Adelaide. Instead, she came personally to scout the requirements so her daughter could start prep work early.

No need for formalities, we’re all friends here,Adelaide said, rising with a smile. Let’s head to the west lounge for some coffee.

And just like that, the spacious main living room was left to a blearyeyed Alpha Lance and a yawning Elias sitting across from him.

So

Elias let out another massive, uncurbed yawn.

Alpha Lanceyou got a spot around here where I can crash for a bit? Even a sofa works.

Lance stared at him, genuinely stunned.

Unbelievable. This guy actually had the audacity to show up at another packhouse at the crack of dawn just to take a nap. The man had zero shame.

In the west lounge, the fire was crackling merrily.

Knowing Paisley was a key player in the Institute’s setup, Harper asked, Where’s Paisley? I was hoping to go over the longterm roadmap with her.

Adelaide felt bad for Paisleythe girl had barely slept a wink lately working on the project- but since Harper asked, she sent an omega to go wake her up.

Harper came prepared. she pulled out a rocksolid business plan.

Ladies, the Institute is a charity, sure, but the location is pretty remote. If the shewolf there want to turn their handiwork into actual cash, they need a storefront in the city center.
