Chapter 759

Third Person’s POV

Lance had been sitting in a highbacked chair outside the interrogation room for the better part of the day.

Inside, the interrogators were using wolfsbanetipped whips on Veldanasty tools designed to suppress a wolf’s healing factor and keep wounds festering in a constant state of agony. But even with her skin shredded and her spirit pushed to the brink, Velda refused to budge. She was sticking to her story: it was all Alpha Zander’s idea.

In the next cell over, Brock Freeman and a few other officers had already cracked. Under the influence of truth serum and a brutal beating, they’d spilled everything.

The truth was, Alpha Zander was in a deep coma when it happened and couldn’t have ordered a ham sandwich, let alone a massacre. Velda’s own spies had spotted a small group of Western elite forces hiding in Snowdeer Town. Hungry for glory and wanting to tie up loose ends, Velda bypassed her superiors and ordered the hit on the entire town herself.

The evidence was all there, but Velda just wouldn’t recant.

Lance didn’t step inside the bloodsoaked room. He sat in the dim light, expressionless as he flipped through the latest blood- stained transcripts.

A moment later, he casually tore the papers into tiny pieces, letting them flutter to the floor like a twisted version of snow. His voice was like ice. Keep going. As long as she’s still breathing, don’t stop the treatment.

Lucas, the lead interrogator, stood nearby, wiping cold sweat from his forehead. He owed Dr. Digby his life, which was the only reason he was playing ball with Lance. But after days of highintensity questioning with zero results, he was feeling the heat.

He rubbed his hands together nervously. Alpha LanceI have to give Lycan Erasmus something. We’ve been at this for days behind closed doors, used every trick in the book, and I still don’t have a solid confession I can sign off on. The Western delegation arrives tomorrow morning. I’mI’m in a really tight spot here.

Lance crossed his long legs, his cold Alpha scent flooding the hallway. He let out a mocking huff. What good is a contradictory, halfbaked confession to Lycan Erasmus?

That kind of garbage? He will take one look at it and rip it up in your face.

Under the weight of Lance’s aura, Lucas instinctively hunched his shoulders. But Alpha Lance, we’ve run her ragged for nights on end. We’ve used every heavy duty tool we have, and she won’t break. If we push any harder, she’s going to die on the rack. F’m telling you, keeping this up isn’t going to change anything.

Lance snapped his head up, his eyes sharp as razors in the dim light. Then keep at it! Lucas, you know exactly what has to happen -she has to recant. Zander didn’t order that massacre, she did. If she’s really that tough

Lance paused, a cruel, playful smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. Then let’s bring Ulrik in. Let’s see what he has to say.

Lucas turned pale and stumbled back a step. Thatthat’s out of the question! Lycan Erasmus never said anything about questioning Ulrik. It’s pretty obvious Lycan Erasmus wants to keep him as far away from this political mess as possible!

Alpha Zander is in chains,Lance said, standing up. His massive frame completely overshadowed Lucas. Ulrik was the field commander. Why does he get a free pass?

His voice took on a dangerous edge. Lycan Erasmus didn’t tell you to grill him, but did he explicitly forbid you from calling him in

Lucas stammered, Wellhe didn’t say I couldn’t, but he definitely didn’t authorize me to go out and arrest a royal favorite.

Lance arched an eyebrow with a grim smile. I didn’t say arresthim. I said invitehim. Ulrik was the general on the ground for the Snowdeer Town op. What’s the harm in asking him to stop by and verify the command logs?

Lance let out a cold snort, his fangs barely visible. If Lycan Erasmus throws a fit later, you can pin the whole thing on me. Tell him I forced your hand.
