Adelaide snapped back to the present and hooked her arms around his neck. She tilted her head and gave his thin lips a lingering lick, her eyes dancing with flirtatious provocation. “Give me a list.” she commanded. “I want the names of the most arrogant ones. I’ll handle the rest.

It made sense–the throne was secure, so the spoiled sons of the nobility were no longer a necessity.

Eventually, Lycan Erasmus would have to purge the patrol anyway.

In reality, Anilo’s assumption was partially steered by Adelaide’s framing.

The truth was that Erasmus couldn’t care less about the Royal Patrol.

Anilo moved fast and handed over the list.

Adelaide reviewed it carefully that night and summoned Paisley and Wendy.

“Do me a favor,” she said, sliding the list across the table. “Dig up every scrap of dirt you can find on these guys.”
