“You’re flatterring yourself.” Adelaide raised an eyebrow, her expression cold. “I have enough military reports on my desk to keep me busy all day. I don’t have time to dig into your personal drama. So, tell me–why were you really kicked out of your pack?”

Wanda’s face turned bright red instantly.

“Why else? Because I didn’t produce an heir! Don’t act like you don’t know. Is there a single wolf in this city who hasn’t heard? For that one reason, he didn’t just reject me-he’s already about to mate with some young she-wolf! Is that answer enough for you?”
