Chapter 840
Third Person’s POV
Wanda caught wind of the shift through the streets almost immediately.
Fueled by a psychotic rage, she marched straight back to the Blue Abyss territory to confront Sidney.
But Sidney was too terrified to even show her face and ordered the heavy gates barred.
Wanda stood outside the walls, screaming curses for a solid hour. Her pheromones completely short–circuited with her fury, giving off a bitter, scorched scent.
Maya, worried that Wanda’s hysterical scene would bring unwanted eyes down on the pack, issued a flat order: the second Wanda set foot near the gates again, the guards were to handle her with force.

Completely backed into a corner, Wanda spiraled into absolute despair.
She had no choice but to swallow her pride, drag herself back to the Independent Center, and beg for a spot.
Only this time, her arrogant attitude was entirely gone, replaced by a desperate humility.
But the guards at the Center only gave her a chilly look. “You’ll have to wait. We need clearance from Luna Harper before anyone lets you in.”
Left with no options, Wanda staked out the entrance to Harper’s luxury estate. The moment she spotted her carriage rolling up, she threw herself in front of it, collapsing to her knees and sobbing her eyes out.
Seeing Wanda reduced to such a pathetic state, Harper’s heart went soft. She let out a heavy sigh, her expression staying cold as she laid down the law.
“Listen to me. You can stay at the Center for two days, and only as a temporary guest. We are absolutely not taking you in permanently. The best I can do is use my network to find you a basic job in the black market. As for anything else, don’t even dream about it.”
Wanda’s eyes went wide with pure disbelief.
“What?! You expect me to take some low–class grunt job?! No! Absolutely not! I am a high–born she–wolf!”
Harper’s face dropped instantly. She let out a sharp snort and turned back toward her carriage.
“Since you’re so high and mighty, go back to being a beggar! And don’t even think about stepping foot inside the Center. Get lost!”
Seeing that Harper was actually about to abandon her, Wanda choked on the humiliation and gave in.
“Wait! Oh Moon Goddess, fine! I’ll take it! Find me the job… I’ll stay at the Center for a few days!”
Inside the carriage, Harper rubbed her temples, looking exhausted.
“God That idiot still thinks she’s royalty.”
“Ma’am, Wanda is a walking disaster,” Rowena, her omega assistant, said with a worried frown.

“she’s a total parasite. Once she gets a bed at the Center, we’ll never get her out.”
Harper stared out the window, a sharp glint flickering in her eyes.
“Rowena, head over to the Center in a bit and pass down a directive: Wanda cleans her own room and cooks her own food. If she doesn’t work, she doesn’t eat.”
Rowena couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Brilliant. That’ll do it.”
But neither of them could have guessed that Harper’s brief moment of pity would ultimately trigger a massive political firestorm across the city.
By the second day of Wanda moving into the Center, the news of her formal–rejection had exploded across high society.
The common wolves were gossiping about every dirty detail of her exile, and her stint as a predatory loan shark was dragged out into the light.
Most people thought it was insane that the Glenveil Pack hadn’t just tied her up and handed her over to the Marshals.
But what the working–class wolves found truly unforgivable was that the Independent Center had actually taken her in. The rumors claimed she was being pampered and given free meals every day.
Meanwhile, Adelaide was just putting the finishing touches on her massive purge of the Royal Patrol.
She’d been so buried under military paperwork that she had no clue the Center was currently sitting in the eye of a public relations hurricane.
She only found out the day before the cleanup wrapped up.
When she went to check in with Paisley, she found her friend pacing the floor, utterly frantic.
“Wendy already did some digging,” Paisley said, rubbing her temples.
“Sidney isn’t the one fanning the flames this time. I’m betting it’s the Glenvil wolves themselves. Up until now, the Glenweil high command has stayed completely silent about why Wanda was exiled. Only the inner circle of that pack knows these kinds of details. They want to make sure Wanda can’t survive in this city.”
Adelaide analyzed it calmly.

“This isn’t just a hit on Wanda. These toxic comments are destroying the Center’s credibility. Did Wendy find the specific leak? Running a smear campaign of this scale in the capital takes a massive amount of gold.”
Paisley looked at her.
“There’s an old acquaintance of yours still inside the Glenveil circle. Think it’s her?”
