"I think so, but I don't know," I responded.

"It's been awhile since I was here," Kyle murmured out loud as he looked around the place.

"What?" everyone questioned him as once.

"I used to go to the underground street fighting locations to watch a fighter named Phantom fight. She was amazing, the one to beat. She's the champion in these parts. But then one day she just dropped out and stopped showing up. Most people think she was killing, which isn't unlikely," Kyle explained to us, then looked back to the ring.

"Up next is our disappearing, undefeated champion, Phantom!" someone said over a bad quality microphone.

I froze. Max's scent was everywhere, but I could easily make her out as the one walking up to the ring after that was called. She seemed to be preparing herself while surveying her surroundings. Max stopped and her eyes locked onto mine and confusions flashed through them as she stared a second longer before turning away shaking her head.

"Max is Phantom. Of course she would be, why wouldn't she be?" Jacob chided to himself.

I ignored everyone, I was fighting myself from running up there and snatching her away. I wanted nothing more than to go up there and protect her, but for some reason I couldn't move from where I was. I was told she only had two fight tonight. Everybody cheered louder as Max got into the ring and readied herself to fight. Her hoodie hung over the side. I've never seen her without some type of long sleeved top on, so this was the first time I saw all the scars littering her arms and shoulders. They were all different, some jagged, some smooth like a knife.

My blood was boiling by now. I wanted to know who did that to her. I was going to make them suffer.

The girl Max was fighting was such a small girl, and the little information I got off the "Phantom" I knew this poor girl didn't stand a chance. Max started out defensive, but was quick to switch to offense. It was only minutes until the girl was unconscious.

After that though, Max stayed put up there and waited for her next victim. This time, though, a huge guy stumbled up to the ring. He was obviously intoxicated and inexperienced. Max looked to him in disdain and scowled. This fight was shorter than the first one, saying as the opponent couldn't even walk straight, let alone punch. Max sent a kick to his rips sending him to the floor. She took advantage of his position and punched him in the jaw then again to the cheek. She slammed his head to the floor like the previous fight, knocking him out.

"Well, I am. Now don't close your eyes," I demanded.

"At least now I can leave this hell," she mumbled to herself as her head dropped to my should as her body went limp. I caught her in my arms and laid her on the ground resting up against me. I pulled my shirt over my head and pressed that to the wound, hoping it would help in some way.

I heard a car pull up and Geena was driving then Jacob in the front seat. Kyle, Micah, and Hannah jumped out letting me carry Max to the back seat.

"Go! Take her to a hospital, we'll follow behind," Micah yelled and slammed the car door shut.

We reached a hospital that wasn't far away and a ran in with Max still bleeding in my arms. Somebody quickly took her away from me as they ran with her on a gurney. I tried to follow when I was told that I couldn't.
