"Mr. and Mrs. Clark, I love Sophia with all my heart." 

"If it makes you feel better, I'll put her name as the legal owner of the new company." 

His voice was familiar, but it took me a moment to connect it to the man from my memories. 

Benjamin was on his knees in front of my parents, pouring his heart out. 

My mom wiped away tears, and even my dad, who never liked Benjamin, seemed moved. 

I clenched my fists so hard my nails dug into my palms. 

The pain confirmed it—I was really back. 

I looked at the man in front of me, the one who'd killed my parents in cold blood. 

The memory made me tremble with rage. 

Before I could stop myself, I slapped him across the face. 

The sound echoed through the room. 

Benjamin froze, and my parents stared at me in shock. 

"Sophia! Why did you hit him?" 

I smirked.

"I didn't hit a person, Mom. I hit a monster." 

Benjamin forced a smile, his voice shaky.

"Sophia, what's wrong? Did I do something to upset you?" 

I didn't answer. He wasn't upset because he cared—he needed me to sign over the company. 

Without me as the legal owner, he and Jessica couldn't run off with the money. 

"Sophia, if you're unhappy, just tell me. I'll fix it."

"If you're still worried, we can register the company right now, okay?" 

He reached for my hand, but his touch made my skin crawl. 

"She was drunk, and I was helping her get back to her hotel."

"That's all!" 

Benjamin swore on his life he'd never cheat on me. 

He sounded so sincere, even my mom leaned over and whispered, 

"Sophia, he seems honest."

"Give him a chance to explain." 

Her words stung.
