When Natalie gets out, talk to her and make sure she stops making trouble for Isabella. Isabella and Ethan are divorced. What could she possibly do to you now? She grew up in our family. Don’t let things get ugly. She’s not the same soft and timid Isabella anymore.”

He’d seen the way Isabella had changed. In Jackson’s eyes, this was who she really was. Before, she’d only acted weak because of her mother. Now that he and Cynthia were divorced, Isabella had nothing holding her back. She wasn’t going to put up with Jordan and Natalie’s drama anymore. If Isabella had still cared about old times, she wouldn’t have insisted on pressing charges when Natalie got detained. If Ethan hadn’t helped cover for Natalie, she would’ve ended up in jail for at least a year. Isabella had also started networking with a lot of top executives, thanks to Linda and Barbara.

Jordan let out a dismissive laugh. “You’re giving her way too much credit. What talent does she even have? She’s just living off Ethan’s money. If she didn’t have the Adams family name, nobody would care who she is. Sure, her little drama projects made some money, but that was all Ethan’s investment. And the only reason she even knows Linda and Barbara is because of the family.”

Jordan had never taken Isabella seriously. To him, she was just a pretty face that Ethan kept around. Now that she and Ethan were over and she’d lost the Adams family support, he figured she was nothing.

Jackson looked at Jordan for a moment, then gave up on arguing. Jordan had always been short-sighted. He sighed inwardly and decided he’d be better off putting his energy into Kevin, grooming him to be his successor.

Harold came right up to her, his gaze warm and steady. There was the usual gentle curve to his lips. “I’ve got something to tell you. I thought you’d want to hear it.”

Why was she thinking about him again? Isabella shook the thought away. She didn’t want to compare Harold to Ethan. Ethan didn’t deserve that kind of attention from her anymore.

“What do you feel like eating?” Harold asked as he sat, handing her the menu.

“You choose,” Isabella replied, taking the menu. “I’m not picky. They have a few signature dishes here. I come here sometimes with the editors.”

“Really? Then I’ll have to try whatever you recommend.”

Harold picked up the teapot, unwrapped the disposable utensils, and used the hot tea to rinse them for her.
