Alana novel Chapter 18

"So you're their Luna, which means you should be able to fight."

"I thought I proved myself in the beginning." I place my hands on my hips and lean on one side-eyeing the man in front of me.

"You did but I was rusty, I'm ready now."

I shake my head and stand in place as we prepare to train. Dressed in leggings and a sports bra as a distraction, but sadly it doesn't seem like he noticed.

"Alright, hit me." He says.

"Nah, go first." I smile and he deadpans. He walks towards me and lands a swift punch....well nowhere.

"I can't hit a girl." He shakes his head and I roll my eyes, kicking him in his stomach.

"Dang." He wheezes falling to the ground.

"No mercy!!" I yell excessively loud and jump on him. He flips me over and straddles me as I struggle.

"Dang boy, why you so fat?"

"Fat? I'll have you know this is pure muscle."

"Right...." He rolls his eyes and me smiling before leaning in.

"Kiss?" He mutters.

"Y'know, it would be more fun if you would slam me to a tree or something," I suggest and he smirks.

"Noted." He leans in and we were about to kiss when-

"Alpha! There's been an intrusion." One of the pack members yells and Leo stands quickly before lifting me.

"How many?"

"One." He replies and Leo raises his eyebrow.

"Then....take care of him."

"We can't Alpha! He has Ashely at gunpoint."

"Ashely?!" He yells breaking apart from me and running out.

"He didn't even listen for the last part. Luna, go with Dustin, the intruder is demanding that we bring you to him, but we will protect you."

I nod even though my mind was simply running wild.

"Thank you." I smile at him, kissing his cheek and he blushes. I turn to find Dustin who grabs my hand and leads me to some abandoned area of the packhouse.

"Seems like we only meet on special occasions." Dustin grins and I offer him a small smile.

"What's wrong?"

"What....what happened between Leo and Ashely, why did they break up?"

"He went to save her didn't he..."Dustin sighs and I nod looking away.

"Just dropped me like a hot potato."

"But you are a hot potato." Dustin jokes and I roll my eyes laughing.

"They broke up about a few months ago. Leo was definitely in love. And Ashely was too. She's not all that bad trust me. They were great for each other but..."

"They weren't mates." I finish for him and he looks up at me nodding.

"When...Leo found you.  .or you found him, they were together. There were so many rumors of Leo being a man-whore but it was only because they wanted to keep things low key. Leo broke up with her the day he found you. After all, it's his mate, its true love."

"But it's forced. I created a wedge between the two, I'm surprised she hasn't tried to kill me yet."

"Trust me she's too nice for that. And it's not forced, you can reject him and he can reject you."

"And that's what I'm gonna do. He needs to be happy with the one he wants to be with, not some colored girl he never even knew. It's not fair."

"You're his mate. You guys are meant to be. That's how the universe made it to be."

"Yea well the universe doesn't have a heart," I tell him and he goes quiet. "Go pack my stuff, I'm gonna go see what's happening."

I didn't know what to say.

What do you tell a dying man who confessed his love for you?

He eventually slips away with me just holding him.

I stand tears running down my face.

"What is wrong with you?!" I scream at Leo and he gapes. "Why... Why Leo why would you do that?"

"Why didn't you stop them?"

"What are you going to try to commit suicide again? Go jump off a cliff see if any of us cares." Ashely speaks up and my breath

hitches I walk up to her and slap her freckles right off her face.

"I have been pushed around for years. And its people like you, who make people like me what to jump off a cliff. You better think about what you tell someone because they don't kill themselves, you do."

I spot Dustin with my stuff and I grab it. Leo was yet to speak so I turned to him.

"I, Alana Winters reject you, Leo White, as my mate."

The pack members' eyes widen but I don't move a muscle.

"I accept." He replies and to be completely honest? I was stunned. Ashely smirks at me but I show no emotion. I only nod and turn to Dustin.

"Goodbye, please Dustin, when you find your mate. Treat her like she's the best thing you'll ever have because she will be." He nods and pulls me into a tight hug.

"Take care of yourself, Alana. Remember, you're beautiful." I only smile slightly, turning, and nodding to the pack members.

"Goodbye pack members, I will miss you guys. Something's just aren't meant to be. Be good and accept your new Luna, whoever she maybe." I give them a sad smile to which they return, some with tears in their eyes.

I walk out saying goodbye to this place. Something I should've done a long time ago.

I never should've even come here in the first place.
