Xingxie smiled,

"To have little brother near me is all I could ask for. Thank you father for your grace."

Master Wu nodded his head in approval.

This child was really simple.

How would she react if she knew he wasn't her real father?

"You received a perfect score on the exams last week, I heard." He looked at her.

"That is correct. I have been studying for the new lessons you have prepared for me." She replied, picking up the teapot. Xingxie poured the tea into his empty cup.

"Xingxie, you are really a blessing to me." Master Wu meant it from the bottom of his heart. Even if he was cold to her, he didn't despise her.

"I've been thinking..... It's about time I let you meet new people. So, I am planning on holding a banquet celebrating you. Do you like the idea?"

Xingxie smiled politely, and like in the past, she accepted his decisions.

"If father wants to hold a banquet, of course Xingxie will support his wishes."

While the servants were busy preparing and decorating for the banquet, Wu Xingxie was in her chambers checking on her brother.

Wu Xuan had successfully moved in with her and he was sleeping on a different bed.

She was silent as she checked his body temperature and breathing. He seemed much better than yesterday already.

The night before, Wu Xingxie sneaked out the manor using her teleportation skills.

Teleportation was a skill one could use when they reached the 9th level. However, because she was really at level 3, her skills were more refined and faster. Not to mention, the body was young and healthy.

She had to thank Master Wu for raising her so well. At least for now, since he was one of her suspects for the one who sent assassins to kill her. Even though that was years from now, she wasn't going to let anyone off so easily.

After sneaking out, Wu Xingxie went out to find the herbs needed to cure Wu Xuan's conditions. The toxin was rare and slow acting but the antidote was actually simple to make. She only needed 5 herbs but they were insanely expensive. So, Wu Xingxie exchanged it with her jewelries which were expensive as well. In the past, she would wear them to look presentable but to the current Wu Xingxie, they were only a tool to let her save her brother's life.

"Xuan'er, as long as you take the antidote thrice a day, the toxin will be cleansed in a month's time." She told him after creating the bitter medicine.

Although it was bitter, Wu Xuan complained not once. Being the obedient boy he is, Wu Xuan drank the antidote without even gagging.

He really wanted to get better.

"Yuyan." Xingxie called for her loyal attendant.

"Yes Eldest Miss?"

Yuyan had woken up early today so she was already dressed while Xingxie was still in her sleepwear.

Wu Xingxie had only washed her face and brushed her teeth, so there were droplets of water on her smooth face. Even though it was still a bit dark, the candles illuminated Wu Xingxie's facial features.

She was really an exotic beauty, like a female immortal. Her perfectly arched eyebrows, and her mesmerizing eyes. Yuyan couldn't help but stare at Wu Xingxie's red lips as she gave her commands. Without makeup, she was already so gorgeous, how would the Eldest Miss look if she was dolled up?

"Likewise. Otherwise, if the emperor were to know Wu Xingxie and Wu Xuan are not mine, you know what will happen right?"

Master Wu smirked.

This man dares to threaten her?

"I know pretty well. I should've killed them when they were still in my womb." She stated, but felt a hand on her neck.

"You can do whatever you want to your useless bastard son, but if you dare lay a finger on Xingxie, I will make sure you regret it!" Master Wu gripped her neck tighter. Madam Wu started to choke, tears forming in her eyes, but she didn't plead him to stop. Instead, she started laughing.

"Go ahead.... Kill me!" She said while struggling to breathe.

Master Wu released her, letting her fall on the ground.

"Why won't you just kill me?" She asked desperately.

"Death is too easy for you. We're equally as evil. Do you think you can escape from this world?"

He answered her question before leaving the room without giving her a glance.

"Master, you've received a letter." A masked man handed a scroll to his superior.

The superior was currently painting so he gestured the servant to read it.
