Once Concubine Xi reached Xuan's chambers, she saw Yuyan standing outside the door.

"Greetings to Lady Xi." Yuyan greeted with a smile. In the manor, there was no one who didn't know of the good relationship between Eldest Miss and Concubine Xi.

It was weird how the biological mother paid no attention to her biological children but spent time with the concubines' children.

"Xing'er, may I come in?" Concubine Xi asked before Xingxie gave her permission.

"Mother Xi!" Wu Xuan was very happy they came to visit him. His real father and mother didn't even care about him so just having the two was enough for him.

Concubine Xi smiled gently when she saw the tenderness in the boy's eyes.

"How is Xuan'er?" She asked Xingxie who knew she could tell her the truth.

"He's been poisoned but I can save him." Xingxie declared.

Concubine Xi was slightly startled by her statement. If Xingxie recalled correctly, today was the day which Concubine Xi warned her to be careful about the Wu family.

"You might not believe me but I've been studying medicine lately. Concubine Xi, you know how fast of a learner I am right?"

Of course, Concubine Xi knew how intelligent she was but it's because Xingxie was too lenient on others. She refused to hurt others unless they attacked her first. Even when knowing people had bad intentions, Xingxie would not make the first move unless they acted upon it.

Being kind and sympathetic is a good thing but there is a limit to everything.

Xingxie explained Xuan's condition to Concubine Xi who was surprised that someone would try to harm the young boy.

He had just begun puberty yet his life was already being threatened.

"Xing'er..... Do you think it's the Madam?" Concubine Xi asked quietly.

If no one knew how much Concubine Xi loved Xingxie and Xuan as if they were her real children, they would think she was driving a wedge between daughter and mother.

However Xingxie had never considered her biological mother her mother. She only did what was expected because she didn't want to be unfilial.

Xingxie remained silent for a while.

"How can that be? Why would mother hurt me?" Xuan was young but he wasn't stupid. He was aware of the schemes between his other family members but had never tried to interfere. Only, he found it hard to believe that the woman who carried him for nine months could try to kill him.

"I want to know the answer to that too." Xingxie let out a bitter smile.

"I haven't told you this but Xing'er, do you remember when I was pregnant?" Concubine Xi asked. Xingxie nodded in response because she was 13 at the time.

Three years ago, Concubine Xi was pregnant with a baby boy but had a miscarriage. Xingxie asked what happened but Concubine Xi never told her the truth because she didn't want to worry the young girl.

"That time, I was fed bird's nest soup by the Madam herself. With her status, all the servants kept their mouths shut about the incident. I regret not being able to save my flesh and blood."

"What a kind mother I have." Xingxie sarcastically remarked.

"She was the one who reminded me to be kind and not do evil things but who would've known she had such a cruel side."

"Xuan'er, remember this. You will get better. I will make Madam Wu see she made a big mistake to abandon her real children."

"Come, my beautiful children. Mother has presents for you all." A woman called to the teenagers gathered in the room.

Dressed in an expensive dress and wearing golden hairpins, she was none other than Madam Wu, Wu Xingxie and Wu Xuan's biological mother.

"Thank you Mother Wu!" The youths expressed, bowing to the elder. Madam Wu was 33, but she looked like she was still in her 20s because she took good care of her body.

"Yun'er, a new sword for you to practice your swordsmanship." She spoke to a teenage boy who seemed to be 15 years old. He was the eldest son, but his biological mother was only a concubine. Since his mom passed away, Madam Wu took care of him as a real mother. She raised him with love and affection, providing him with the best of everything.

Xingxie remembered it was around this time she saw her half-siblings again. This time, she would not show them her sincerity anymore since they saw it as a facade anyways.

What was the point of being nice, if they didn't want to appreciate her?

"Xingxie greets father." Xingxie kowtowed before the man. She didn't hate him but she couldn't say she loved him either. She only felt grateful because she was living under his roof and eating his food.

"Stand up." Master Wu gestured with his hand.

"Thank you father." Xingxie was a well mannered girl so she greeted him formally.

"I heard you asked to see me. That's good because I was going to visit you this evening as well." He said without a trace of emotion.

"Yes, this daughter would like to ask for a request." Xingxie began.

Master Wu narrowed his eyes but he quickly changed his thoughts.

Since she had done so well these past years, he should at least reward her.

"What is it you want? Name it."

"This daughter doesn't want a wordly item. I only wish to see Seventh Young Master more often. So, Xingxie was hoping you would let him move in with me." Xingxie was straightforward about her request.

She wasn't asking for much, was she?

Master Wu went silent for a few minutes.

Even though Wu Xuan was useless, he was still Wu Xingxie's blood brother. Naturally, she wants to be close to him. He didn't see the boy as a threat so he agreed to her wishes.

"Alright. I will have the servants move his belongings to your chambers. However, will you be fine with him staying with you?"
