In this standout chapter of the Romance novel Blizzard, First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps, Evelyn Hartwell introduces new challenges, powerful emotions, and major plot progress that captivate readers from beginning to end.

Isabel promptly kicked Julian out of the kitchen. Edmund, having washed his hands, came over and saw Julian sitting at the dining table. He glanced towards the kitchen and asked, "Daddy, you don't know how to cook at all?"

Julian wasn't particularly keen on cooking. There was always someone around who could cook for him. Besides, he was constantly on the move, so buying food was the most convenient option. Who had time to set up a kitchen in one place? He'd probably be taken out before the meal was even ready.

Seeing Julian's prolonged silence, Edmund took his large hand in his small one and comforted him, "It's okay, Daddy. I'll teach you how to stir-fry vegetables later. It's really easy."

Julian glanced at their vastly different-sized hands. Why had he brought this child back? For one, his parents had worked for him and died because of him. But there were other ways to take care of him besides keeping him by his side. Ultimately, it was because of the boy's immense talent, and the fact that Isabel couldn't have any more children. Her incredible skills needed an heir. Otherwise, he'd end up like his grandfather, needing him to find a wife just to carry on the family legacy.

"Love your mommy well, learn everything you can from her, and protect her when you grow up. Don't let her cry. As for cooking, there are plenty of people to do that. It won't fall to you."

Edmund nodded. "Until I grow up, protecting Mommy is your job, Daddy. I want to learn from you too."

Julian smiled. What skills did he have? He could teach him some self-defense, at least.

"Be ready to get up early tomorrow morning for a run with me."

"Mission accepted!"

"Even though you and Mr. Reed don't have feelings for each other and are getting married for practical reasons, I think this could be good for you. Living together with a child like this."

Isabel hadn't thought that far ahead. With Julian, she always had a way forward and a way back. Whether she was his wife or his sister, she would live her life well. For old Mr. Reed's sake, she would always be good to Julian. Besides, Julian treated her well. He might seem roguish, but he was actually very considerate.

Before she had asked for the divorce, she had received a special birthday gift. Julian, not knowing she was married to Adrian or where she was, had sent it through old Mr. Reed. It was a photo album of her life, from childhood up to her marriage. Even in the photos from the years she was cast out by her father, caring for her cancer-stricken mother, as difficult as things were, she still radiated a natural, vibrant life force.

She had done so much during her six years of marriage, never complaining, believing she still possessed that strength. But it wasn't until she saw the album from Julian and compared it to her reflection in the mirror that she realized all that was left of her was a deadened spirit.
