“Stop playing games.”

Adrian’s voice was like ice. “I’ve told you before, I’m not falling for it.”

“This is your only chance. If you don’t take it, then even crying to Grandma won’t do you any good.”

“I...” Isabel felt like she was arguing with a brick wall. Before she could explain further, he hung up.

Isabel: “...”

Was this the result of six years of not communicating?

Why was it impossible to have a simple conversation?

Forget it.

With Adrian’s personality, his initial dislike of her was so ingrained that he would never believe her anyway.

She would wait for his current anger to cool down before bringing up the divorce again.

Halcyon Hills Residence.

Selena came downstairs in a light nightgown and poured a glass of ice water for Adrian. She smiled gently and said, “Why do you let Isabel get to you like this? I’ve told you so many times, you just need to humor her a little.”

Adrian downed a gulp of the water. “The Blackwell family provides her with everything she could ever need. She just bruised her hand, and the hospital said it wouldn’t affect her daily life. I don’t understand what there is to make such a scene about, let alone run to Grandma over it.”

The ice water seemed to make his voice even colder. “If her goal is to make me compromise and coddle her, she’s dreaming. I will never do that.”

“Alright,” Selena said. “Since Isabel wants to play assistant over at Dylan's lab, just let it go for now. When I get there, I’ll try to talk some sense into her for you.”

“It’s late.” She moved a little closer. “Let’s go to bed.”

Adrian went upstairs with her.

Selena’s soft voice drifted back. “Let me press your suit tomorrow morning. You're always wearing wrinkled suits. No one dares to say anything, of course, but it doesn't do your image any favors.”

Adrian: “Don’t worry about it. You should get more rest.”

Martha, who was still awake, secretly took a few photos and sent them to Isabel.

Isabel, fresh out of the shower, saw them and didn’t understand.

Martha’s message followed immediately: [Miss Hayes, I support your decision to divorce him. If it doesn't go smoothly, I have evidence you can use to file a suit!]

Isabel didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

Dylan: “To check on a medicinal herb farm.”

But before they got on the highway, Isabel received a call from Amanda.

“Hey, Amanda.”

“Isabel, are you on Rosemont Avenue by any chance?”

Isabel confirmed, “Yeah, we’re heading out of town.”

Amanda’s voice was rushed. “Could you possibly do me a huge favor and stop by Starlight International Kindergarten? The teacher just called and said my son got into a fight with another kid. I’m stuck here, and his dad is out of town on business.”

Isabel asked Dylan, “Are we in a hurry?”

Amanda’s voice was loud enough for him to hear her panic.

Dylan had heard most of it. “No rush.”

Isabel agreed. After hanging up, she told Dylan, “Let’s go to Starlight International Kindergarten.”

Dylan made a U-turn at the next intersection.

They weren't far, and it only took twenty minutes to get there.
