When they arrived at the Foster family home, Dylan immediately applied the ointment to Isabel's hand, following Dr. Lawson's written instructions.

Then he poured her a glass of warm water and placed the pills in her palm.

Once he was done, he apologized. “I’m sorry...”

“What does this have to do with you?” Isabel glanced at her right hand, where a layer of skin had peeled away, her expression impassive. “I’m hungry. Let’s eat.”

Old Mr. Foster had invited Isabel for dinner and had personally cooked the meal.

He was getting on in years but was in good health.

Dylan and his parents were always busy, and the only other person in the house was a cleaning lady, who was off for the holidays.

After sitting down, Isabel asked, “Aren’t Mr. and Mrs. Foster coming home?”

“They can’t make it back this year,” old Mr. Foster said simply, placing some food on her plate. “Your favorite braised ribs with potatoes. Eat up.”

“Thank you.”

Dylan’s parents’ work was confidential, so she didn’t press further.

Watching her use her left hand to hold her utensils, old Mr. Foster couldn’t help but sigh. “What are your plans now?”

After finishing a rib, Isabel said, “Grow the herbs. And finish Y-2.”

Dylan was so shocked that the piece of braised pork on his chopsticks fell. “What did you say?”

Old Mr. Foster was also surprised. “If you continue with it, you could be accused of plagiarism. Do you have any proof for that partial formula?”

When Isabel left Halcyon Hills Residence, she had taken her old computer with her.

But it was so slow that she hadn’t used it since.

It had just been sitting there.

Even when Dylan told her that Selena had taken the partial Y-2 formula, she hadn’t bothered to check.

Because if the end goal was to benefit the public, and Selena was capable, then the partial formula wasn't that significant.

She didn’t care who did the research.

Besides, her right hand had already slowed her progress, and she had other experiments to work on.

She had seen the data Selena had produced and the effort she had put in recently.

If Selena had just focused on her work and serving the people, Isabel wouldn’t have made a big deal out of it.

But things were different now.

Old Mr. Foster didn't scold him, only said, “I think she knows what she’s doing.”

Isabel might have been blinded by love when it came to Adrian, but she was a resilient and intelligent woman.

She had her own set of principles for what she wanted to do and her plans for the future.

And no one could dissuade her.

Of course, she would also bear the consequences, good or bad, on her own.

Since she had decided to divorce and to become Selena’s enemy, she would certainly fight for her own justice.

The right and wrong of it all was for her to decide.

After the dinner, Isabel sat on the sofa, watching TV and staying up to welcome the new year.

When it was nearly midnight, she and old Mr. Foster started making canapés together.

Although her right hand was injured, her left hand had become quite adept.

She could make some canapés without any problem, even if it didn’t look pretty.
