I smiled in greeting to the guards at the door who smiled back before returning to their stoic expressions.
I wrinkled my nose at the stench of blood and filth as we walked down the steps.
I could hear the growls and whimpers from the few prisoners down here. I don't know why they're here but I plan on asking Noah later.
We began walking towards the last cell and I froze when I smelt a familiar scent over the filthy smell. I gasped and began running towards the scent, ignoring the calls from Noah.
"Oh my god! Noah open the door!" I yelled towards him when I saw the person inside the cell.
"Rosiane what's wrong?" He asked as he grabbed the keys from his pocket.
"I know her, now open the damn door" I said.
He frowned but complied with my request. I pushed past him and ran inside.
"Hazel" I called out as I shook her sleeping body. She groaned and turned over towards me before open her eyes.
"Rosiane! You're ok" she gasped and hugged me to which I gladly hugged her back.
"What are you doing here?" I asked her as I pulled away and rested my hands on her shoulders.
I gasped when I saw her face.
She had a black eye, a split lip and bruises on her cheek. I looked away from her face and inspected her body. She had cuts and bruises along her legs and arms, similar to the ones I had when I-
"Oh no. Hazel please tell me they didn't do this" I said as I felt my eyes tear up.
"They tried to make me tell them where you went. I told them the truth and that I had no idea where you were. They came back one day after searching for you. They had these triumphant smirks on their faces. They said they found you. They still thought I helped you escape and wouldn't believe me when I told them I didn't" she explained to me.
"Hazel I'm so sorry, this is all my fault. I-" I cried but she cut me off.
"Rosiane this isn't your fault. Please don't blame yourself" she pleaded.
A sob escaped my lips as I stared down at the bruises that littered along her arms. I felt arms wrap around me from behind and I was pulled into the embrace of my mate.
"Shh baby. It's ok, please don't cry" he soothed as he rubbed my back comfortingly. I continued to cry into his chest as he whispered comforting words into my ear.
I let out a small hiccup as my crying slowed. With the heel of my hand, I wiped my tears away before smiling thankfully at Noah.
Hazel then exited the bathroom wearing a pair of my sweatpants and a t-shirt.
Her wet hair was in a messy bun and I frowned when I saw she had bruises in the shape of hand marks on her neck.
"Oh Hazel" I sighed sadly as I walked towards her an exams the bruises on her neck.
"Don't worry about it. I'm healing, see" she said and pointed to her arms.
The small cuts had healed and the deeper ones were beginning to close. The bruises were turning into a greeny-yellow except for the ones on her neck which were still a purply-blue but thankfully the wounds on her face had healed.
"My brother and father are downstairs. If you're ok with it, I'd like you to meet them" I smiled.
"I'd loved to" she smiled back.
I took her hands and led us downstairs. I frowned when I felt her stop. I turned to look at her to see her sniffing the air. She smiled and began dragging me downstairs.
I looked at Charlotte and saw she wore the same confused expression as I did. We reached the living room and I saw Noah and Luke sitting on the couch and my father and another man sitting on the other couch.
