"And you assumed your own answer. Not only that my little wife also came to her own conclusion." He mocked venomously letting her go with a jerk as she flinched back, taking in a sharp breath.
"You will look after my child Chase as his nanny, I'm hiring you, I will pay you to look after him. Do you know what this means?" He said calmly, taking a step towards the window.
She knows what this means. He was trying to hurt her by making her believe that he was snatching away her right of being a mother.
She stayed quiet. She knew he was angry and maybe if she let him take out his anger then maybe there would be less hatred in him towards her.
"I see. Playing the victim card." He muttered while his eyes continued to gaze out of the window which looked more like a jail window rather than normal.
"Let's go through some rules." He said looking straight at her, making her breath hitch.
It was as if dejavu hit her. It happened before. She remembered it and it was like she went back to that day.
"You will not call yourself his mother. You will always introduce yourself as his nanny." He said coldly walking towards her.
She lowered her eyes down and glared at the floor. He was being mean deliberately.
"You will stay in this room and will only be allowed near Chase when I allow you." He continued.
"You must take my permission before going to meet Chase other than the scheduled time." His voice calmed as if he was enjoying hurting her.
"You are not allowed outside the premises of the estate and if you leave, you will never be allowed back in." There was a cold stoic look on his face.
"You will eat the only food that'll be given to you by maids." He was being very ruthless.
"By any chance you tried to escape again with my son. I can promise you that no one would be worse than me, I will forget that you are the mother of my child." He warned her in a deadly calm voice making tears to form in her eyes.
She wanted to smack him right across the face for dictating out these stupid rules but that would led her to her own demise only.
"Go take a shower in the maid's restroom. I don't want you to be like this in front of my child." He spat rudely and left from there leaving her shattered behind.
She looked down at her clothes but couldn't see properly with the teary vision so she blinked and stared at her dirty clothes.
She immediately wiped her tears when she heard a knock on the door. With deep breath in she straightened her shoulders and turned to face a girl standing there in a maid's uniform.
Chloe wore a dress which was not too tight nor too loose. It was perfect but she didn't like the nudity of her legs. The dress was so short that it reached her mid thighs.
She came out of the shower stall and immediately dried her hair with the towel only. Letting her long hair loose behind she didn't wait for anyone as she made her way out the maid's quarter and into the mansion from the back door.
Her heart beat wildly as she gazed at the kitchen which has so many memories. She was expecting to see Jess, Eli, Ethan, anyone but no one was there. Only two maids were in the kitchen whom she didn't recognize.
"Excuse me, can you please guide me towards Chase's room." She asked one of them politely. The woman gave her a weird look before she nodded her head and started walking up the stairs and Chloe followed her with anticipation. Her heart drummed wildly and her hands became sweaty.
"You're the new nanny?" The woman asked, making Chloe nod but then she realised the woman can't see her with her back towards her. "Yes." Chloe answered.
Her heart constricted painfully inside her chest when a woman stopped in front of the door that was Chase's and Lucas's room before she turned.
"This one." The woman pointed at the door and left mumbling that this nanny also won't last like the last three.
With deep breath Chloe opened the door and her heart stuttered at the site of her baby.
"Mommy!" Chase shrieked.
