"You couldn't reach him?" Coralie paused. "Did you mention the terms?"
All he had to do was show his face in front of her every day, and he'd get a massive paycheck. This kind of deal was basically free money falling from the sky. And someone actually turned it down?
Could Channing be pulling strings behind the scenes?
He definitely was.
Coralie immediately got out of the bathtub, threw on a robe, and angrily pushed open the door to his room.
Just then, he had also finished his shower and was walking out shirtless. Broad shoulders, narrow waist, a perfectly defined eight-pack, and not an ounce of excess fat. His messy, damp hair softened his usually sharp features.
She stared at him, the words suddenly caught in her throat.
"Miss?" Seeing her glaring, he quickly stepped forward, frowning. "Why did you come over all of a sudden? Did something happen?"
His hair was still dripping wet; wasn't he worried about catching a cold?
"Oh." Being reminded, she finally remembered her purpose. Damn it. She had almost been distracted by his looks.
"Right, I need to talk to you," she began, but he walked right up to her. So close, she could see every detail. During the time they had been apart, he must have been working out religiously. He looked even better than before.
"Whatever it is, it can wait," Channing said, furrowing his brow as he scooped her up into his arms. "The AC is on. You'll catch a cold with wet hair."
He set her down on the sofa in his bedroom and grabbed a hair dryer to dry her hair.
"Miss, you can speak now." He stood right in front of her. From her seated angle, all she had to do was lower her eyes to get a full view of his bare chest. Who could resist a sight like that?
"You look a little tanner from your trip to Africa," she murmured.
