Evan's P. O. V.

I smiled as I saw Annie wearing the dress I gave her. I would've gotten more for her if I knew she would look this adorable in it.

"Hi," she said shyly.

"Did you have any problem sneaking out?" I asked.

She shook her head no. "I still don't understand why you are taking me to the party," she said.

"Why the hell can't I take you?" I said irritably.

"I don't know...what if your friends get the wrong idea? Shouldn't you go with Lily?" she asked.

"Nope. She annoys me," I said. I don't blame her for being confused about this. Even I don't understand why I was suddenly acting differently towards her. I felt like I couldn't go a day without seeing her.

She fidgeted uncomfortably when we got there. I knew how socially awkward she was, so I grinned. Time to give her the first high school party experience.

"I don't want to go in. I'm scared," Annie declared before we made it out of the driveway.

"Stop being dumb. What's there to be scared of?" I said.

"There are too many people in there. They will make fun of me. They think I'm weird and ugly," she said. Her hands were slightly shaking already.

"Let them try!" I cried. "Come on," I held her hand and dragged her inside the house. Her hand was so tiny compared to mine.

"Hey, you finally made it. You are late, shithead!" my friend Mike yelled as soon as I got in.

"I am here, aren't I?" I shrugged.

"And you brought..." Mike looked at Annie quizzically.

"Annie," I said.

"Annie! I've seen you around before. What's up cutie?" Mike smirked.

I rolled my eyes. Mike has always been overly friendly with girls.

Annie didn't say anything and looked down shyly. I squeezed her hand so she knows I'm here.

"Why don't you come with me Annie and I'll show you around? That cool with you bro?" Mike looked at me and grinned.

I nodded. I trust Mike. He had been my best friend since we were little. He wasn't a jerk like me.

"Wait...Evan?" Annie looked at me helplessly as Mike took her hand.

"It's okay. Just go with him," I said.

"I swear I don't bite," Mike winked.

"You touch her inappropriately and I'll throw you out the window," I threatened him.

"Got it. Come on girl," he said and took her away. I chuckled as I saw the scared expression on her face. She is too cute.

I walked around and high fived some guys I recognized from school. I felt two arms wrapping around my waist all of a sudden. It was from Lily.

"There you are," she said seductively.

She let go of me then faced me. She was wearing a skintight bodycon dress with heels. Her hair was made up of loose curls. She looked hot as fuck.

"That's okay. You can continue doing what you were doing. Annie and I can have fun ourselves. Right, Annie?" Mike took my other hand.

"No, she came here with me so," Evan protested.

I took my hand out of Evan's grasp. "No it's okay, I want to stay with Mike," I said firmly. I didn't want to be near Evan all of a sudden.

"See? We were having fun anyway. Right, Annie?" Mike said.

I nodded. I ignored Evan's fiery gaze as Mike took me away from there.

"You like him, don't you?" Mike asked and stared at me intently.

"N...no I don't!" I protested.

"Aha...whatever you say," he said and patted my head.

"Shut up," I looked down and smiled.

"Don't worry, Evan never sticks with one person. You will have your chance," Mike laughed.

"Ew, I don't want to be his sloppy second," I giggled. "Besides, he is not interested in me. He probably thinks I'm ugly," I said.

Mike gave me a shocked look. "Who told you that! You aren't ugly, Annie. I think you are adorable," he said.

"Really?" my eyes lit up. I know I shouldn't believe another guy after what happened with Brent but Mike sounded genuine.

He was about to say something else but stopped when he saw Evan approaching us.

"We are going home," Evan declared and grabbed my wrist then pulled me away from there.
