1 year later.....
Evan's P.O.V.
"Are you all packed and ready to go?" Mike asked.
"Yeap," I said.
I was on spring break from college so Mike, Lily, and I decided to take a vacation to Florida. After Annie left, I was devastated. Then she called me and told me to forget about her, breaking my heart into a million pieces. I couldn't eat or sleep properly for a week until my mom begged me to get a hold of myself. It wasn't easy for me to get over her. I secretly searched for her for 6 months before finally giving up as it was almost impossible. Her grandmother didn't leave an address or phone number. She was determined to cut all ties between me and Annie. In the end, I was forced to move on.
Lily never stopped being persistent so we ended up getting together again. But I couldn't get into a serious relationship with her. I couldn't forget my little hamster. It still hurts when I think about her.
"Hellooo! Earth to Evan? Are you listening?" Lily snapped her fingers in front of my face.
"What?" I barked.
"I've been asking you to bring this bag to the car for the last 5 minutes but you are all spaced out," Lily pouted.
"Sorry, I was just thinking about something," I said.
"Are you two making out over there or what? Get your ass to the car so we can hit the road!" Mike yelled from the other room.
I smirked and took the last bag to the car and we loaded up.
Other than listening to Mike's rambling for 6 hours, the road trip was fun. I was exhausted by the time we got to the hotel.
Lily laid down next to me and trailed her fingers on my chest and fiddled with the buttons of my shirt.
"I am not in the mood," I said curtly.
"You are never in the mood. We've been dating for almost 4 months and we barely do it," Lily whined.
"First of all, we are not really dating. We agreed on being friends with benefit," I smirked.
"Well I am not getting much of a benefit, am I?" Lily said and threw a pillow at me.
"I am sorry, I just haven't been feeling it," I said honestly.
Lily's face went dark. "You are still not over her," she said,
"Lily please...don't start," I groaned.
"Am I wrong? You are still hung up on her. No one else is good enough for you. She is gone Evan, just move on already!" Lily exclaimed.
I thought about her too. I wondered if she was doing well wherever she was. Did she meet someone else?
They were gone for a while so I debated calling them. Ah, fuck it...I'll just take a nap.
But just as I was about to close my eyes, I saw a pair of legs walking by. A really nice pair of legs.
I haven't been dating anyone since Annie left because let's face it, Evan wasn't the only one who is hung up on her. Maybe it has been long enough. I need to start playing the field and flirt with pretty girls again. Starting with the owner of those nice legs.
I jumped up and brushed the sand off of myself then headed toward her. She had a slender figure and nice long hair tied up onto a ponytail. I walked faster to catch up.
What should I say to her? I thought. Hi, my name is Mike and I am on a vacation and thought you are pretty? Nah, that just makes me sound shallow. Or maybe I should say something like, hi, I am not a local so could you recommend me some restaurants? Yeah, that's it.
She stopped walking and looked at her phone. Here's my chance.
"Hey! I am Mi..." I choked as I saw her face. She had the same shocked expression on her face when she saw my face.
"M...Mike?" her voice shook.
No fucking way...
"ANNIE?" I screamed so loud that the passerby thought I was crazy.
