"Then rent this place to me," Marina said crisply. "I'm not going to stay at my family's house for now, and your place is close to my company."

Carson looked up, surprised. "You want to live here?"

Marina nodded. "I only need the guest bedroom, and it shouldn't be for too long. I won't haggle over the rent with you. While I'm here, I'll cover the cleaning service, utilities, and any other expenses."

Carson gave a faint smile. "Even if we aren't a real couple, we're at least drinking buddies. Why fuss over all that? Just stay here and relax. Stay as long as you want."

"Thank you," Marina said gratefully.

Carson's gaze shifted thoughtfully. "Will your family agree to let you move out? Do you want me to go play the negotiator?"

Marina tightened her grip on her spoon and flashed a bright, confident smile. "No need. I'll handle it myself."

Carson gave a slight nod and dropped the subject.

After breakfast, Marina drove back to the Evert family estate.

Her grandparents and parents were all gathered in the living room. Her Aunt Charlotte came downstairs, stifling a yawn. Her grandmother immediately asked, "How is Phoebe?"

"She didn't sleep well all night," Aunt Charlotte sighed. "She just now managed to doze off."

The elder Mrs. Evert let out a breath of relief. "As long as she's asleep!"

She turned her sharp gaze on Rhiannon. "Did Marina do this on purpose? I just warned her yesterday not to come back so late because it wakes Phoebe up. Every time Phoebe is startled awake, she gets insomnia. Her heart is already weak, and she's been looking terrible these past two days!"

Rhiannon lowered her head, looking guilty. "Of course Marina didn't do it on purpose. There was an emergency at the company, and she had to work late."

"Working overtime every day?" the elder Mrs. Evert scoffed skeptically. "A girl who is about to get married, pouring so much effort into the company... Does she plan on taking the Evert family's assets over to the Foster family?"

Rhiannon's expression hardened. For the first time, she talked back to her mother-in-law. "Our company suffered a massive setback and almost went bankrupt before—you know that. Marina held it together all on her own. The fact that it's thriving now is entirely to her credit. Jude and I have already discussed this. Whether Marina gets married or not, the company belongs to her!"
