---- Wolfgang's POV ----
Today was Aurora's first day off. I had agreed that she'd go back home to spend the day with her stepmother as long as she's back by seven.
I was currently sitting in my office going through some paperwork on the packs hospital when a light knock on the door caught my attention. I'd recognize that knock anywhere. It was her.
"Come in." I answered and placed my attention back on my work. I felt her light footsteps as she came up to front of my desk. I waited for her to speak but when she didn't, I finally raised my head meeting those gray orbs that I've found myself lost in.
"I want to mark this woman so badly. Here she stood in jeans, converse pumps, a black shirt with the logo of Green Day and a red and black plaited sweater, her jacket pressed tight against her chest where she held it. her heavenly scent kept driving me insane. She was so commonly dressed, yet I thought there couldn't be anyone more beautiful than her."
"Then what are you waiting for you dimwit. Do it! Claim our mate." Cronnos retorted in my head causing me to fall back into reality.
"Yes?" I asked her breaking the silence.
"I'm leaving now sir." She spoke softly as her head hung low; her eyes fixated on the floor.
"She's been crying. Her eyes are swollen." Cronnos said making me realize he was right. She had been crying. Was it because of yesterday?
While I was in mothers garden clearing out the weed, I felt someone's gaze, and the distinctive aroma of marshmallows and vanilla hit me, making me know immediately that it was her who stood from her balcony watching me.
I had to fight the urge to turn and look at her, so I played it cool and continued my work. I wouldn't deny that part of me love the fact that she was looking at me, but right then, Tallulah appeared and as usual, was flirting with me, putting her clammy hands over me.
This went on for another couple of minutes before I finally got her off of me, and when I turned to head inside, I looked up to her balcony to see that she was already gone.
By supper time, when I walked into the dining room, she was already there placing my meal on the table.
She wouldn't meet my eyes, but I could tell something was off.
"Oh, I'm starving! What are we having for dinner today Wolfie?" Tallulah walked in and sat right next to me.
"Um, maid? Where is my plate of food?" She growled at Aurora, pissing me off.
She looked at me before turning her attention back to Tallulah. "I'll bring it right away ma'am." She said before quickly hurrying into the kitchen area.
"May I be excused, sir?" Aurora's voice brought me back to the present.
No. I don't want you to leave my side. "You may."
"Don't let her go out there on her own. What if she goes roaming close to the border again?" Cronnos was actually right.
"Don't go wandering around by yourself. Specially not to that lake. I don't need incident reports on my desk because of your carelessness." I quickly added hoping she'd take the warning.
"Yes sir." She said once more before turning on her heels and leaving my office. The rest of the evening I felt completely unsettled thinking about Aurora and her whereabouts. Did she go straight to her house or did she go somewhere else. Did she meet someone? Her files didn't say anything about boyfriends or any past relationship as a matter of fact. But what if she did have someone? The thought of another male claiming my mate pissed me off.
"Oh, hey Rory. We didn't see you there... Are you okay?" Max said as he came from behind me. I looked down to meet gray orbs covered with unshed tears. Shit. Did she hear me?
"Rory? You okay?" A taller girl I recognized as the friend that came to her aid the day, I accused her of the robbery came to her side.
Aurora quickly bowed her head and nodded as she wiped her eyes.
"I'm okay Em. Forgive me Alpha... Beta..." She turned on her heels and left, her friend right behind her.
I stood there frozen watching her small figure disappear through one of the exits. The feel of her body against mine still intact. It felt right.
"Damn it, get a hold of yourself Wolfgang."
Max patted my shoulder breaking me out of my trance. "I think you need to go look for her and apologize dude." He said with a stern look on his face.
"Apologize? For what?" I answered nonchalantly.
"For breaking our mates heart on and on you dimwit." Cronnos retorted in my head.
"I don't know. You say you two have nothing, but she seemed pretty heartbroken before she ran off. I'm even sure she heard everything you said. If you really have no feelings for the girl, you might as well let her know Wolfie. Don't make her suffer." Max said before walking off, leaving me in deep thought.
