"Where's Miss Mathison's necklace?"

"One second, sir," she said, disappearing somewhere and coming back a minute later with my parents' gift.

A gasp and a wide smile burst from my mouth as she handed me the necklace with Hello Kitty's round face winking back at me from the light fixture above. I unclasped it and excitedly tried to put it on, but my hands were fumbling crazily. A moment later, a pair of large, warm hands pried my own away from the back of my neck.

"Here, let me."

Colton unclasped the necklace with surprisingly nimble fingers, then as soon as that was done, and I was sure the heat from my cheeks were gone, I turned around to see his eyebrows raised up at the sight of the jewellery.

"A cat again?" he asked deeply.

My hand instinctively wrapped around the topic. "It was a gift."

"Your boyfriend?"

Ha! I wished. Brett hadn't given me anything special just yet. It was kind of sad, since I'd given him some small tokens of affection during the month. My mouth turned smaller and smaller. Never mind. He called me at the airport and he Snapchatted me! That was a start...

"Alright, Worried Walrus," Colton started.

I gazed up at him in a flash. "Did you just call me a walrus?"

He only smiled a bit. Placing his warm palm on my lower back, he nudged me forward to the back door that led outside toward the stables. We walked for a few moments in silence until we heard a yelp from our destination, followed by a few series of fluent curses and a hiss. We quickly headed toward the sound, my shoes pounding on the damp grass.

"What the --"

We saw the fat cat clinging on top of a shelf, hissing menacingly at a stable groom, who shook his fist. "Bleedin' beast, you are!" he boomed. "And to think I fed you, you fat bas --"

"All right, Henry," Colton called out, before the man killed Fat-tasia above him with a book or something. "You'll be relieved to know the cat's owner is here to pick him up."

"Oh, thank God."

A giggle escaped my lips. With a few greetings, Colton told him to go ahead now.

The cat, sensing safety, came down to move toward us. When he saw me, he actually sniffed and swished his tail away from me in a haughty gesture. Then he went straight for Colton, doing figure eights around his legs, purring.

When Brad hissed and tried to swipe at me from behind his reluctant master, I gasped, but the impact of his heavy body seemed to be able to shake even the strongest foundations because he nearly pushed Colton. At the glare the guy gave him, I was about to snatch him away already, but he literally showed his tongue at me, jumped toward my direction in a heated cry of passion, and knocked me forward with his big and round form that jiggled everywhere.

So yeah, I fell. I fell so hard forward, thanks to gravity and Fat Brad.

I fell so hard that my lips landed squarely on Colton Cutting's mouth.

The bloody beast made her lips fall onto his. Literally, how could that even happen?

Yet it was happening. Cole was a bit surprised, and so was Olivia, but there was something strange stirring inside him. He had to feel it. Her lips started to move away, to form words of apology, but he cut her off by covering his lips over hers again; this time he was conscious and it caught both of them off guard.

Like an alarmed small animal captured by a predator, she shook until his hands stroked her up and down her spine, and going under her shirt to touch her surprisingly soft skin, while his lips moved on hers.

After a moment, she finally wounded her arms around him and he deepened the kiss, his lips moving on hers with hunger, insistently shaping and fitting her mouth to his own. Lost in a haze, Olivia leaned up on her toes, responding to the pressure of his arms. He groaned as she fitted her body against his, and his parted lips crushed hers, sliding insistently back and forth, urging hers to part; the moment they did, his tongue slid between them.

Olivia tore her mouth free, pushing herself against him shakily, her breath quivering. "Oh God," she said, her cat-like eyes growing larger by the second as she stared at the floor.

The cat, miraculously, was lounging on top of a haystack behind her, and Henry wasn't anywhere in sight.
