He returned after a long break, just right at 2:45 AM. I was awake, I usually am. I can't really sleep at nights, don't ask me the reason, frankly saying, I don't know it myself.
He came inside the room. I didn't get up, I pretended that I was asleep.
"You don't need to act, you know?" he said sliding next to me. I released the breath I was holding and looked at him.
"How did you even know that!" I said with mysterious confidence in my voice.
Firstly, I asked a question, directly to him.
Secondly, I didn't stutter.
Thirdly, I am looking straight into his eyes.
Woah.
"You weren't breathing," he said. "That's why it's essential to maintain a calm and composed structure when you're not wanting the other person noticing you"
Right now, he was a completely different person.
Calm.
Sensible.
Cute.
Lovely.
Handsome as hell.
and most importantly,
Understanding.
I like this Robert better.
Fuck Hailey, you don't like ANY Robert!
"Oh," I said. He closed his eyes. I didn't speak anything, he should sleep, he returned this late and gets up at a god-knows-what time.
But then my eyes fell on his hand.
What the hell?
He hadn't changed his bandage in these three days!?!
It's not like I marked the bandage with some cheesy 'get well soon' line, but yes, there was a sticker, a rather rare sticker, and it's there and at the same position as before. It's highly improbable that he changed it and everything is exactly the same.
"S-sir?" I said.
Welcome back, stuttering Hailey.
"Hm?" he said.
Oh god, his husky sleepy voice...
Shut. Up. Hailey. Cameron!
"T-the bandage, it's still the same. Y-you will have i-infection if you didn't change it. M-may I?" I asked.
His eyes snapped open and in a swift moment, he pulled me over him. I looked at him wide-eyed.
"You are still caring?" he asked in a really tired voice.
I know I should let him sleep. But he will really get infection and-
"Fuck Hailey, you're just forcing me to hurt you!" he yelled. I flinched at his voice.
"I-it's just... y-you know... You, Will, Get Infection, Mr. Robert, Please Let Me Change It" I said with a sudden rise in my tone.
uh-uh, my inner-doctor always wakes up at the wrong times.
Robert turned around now and looked at him.
"B-boss, CCTV camera of your room is hacked... Arthur and Patrick are trying, but they can't find the source and can neither deny access to them"
"I'll do it," he said and turned to face me again.
I was holding the wall on my side. I couldn't stand up front, my toes were paining like hell.
"And you," he said looking at me.
I looked at him back, held eye contact, his eyes changed color again. "Nothing," he said and left the room.
I exhaled a deep breath as soon as he left. Max came running to me then and bent down to look at my toes.
"Oh fuck!" he cursed.
I was looking at him. He looked at me back. "How can you let him do this?" he asked me.
There was genuine concern in his voice. Guess everyone here is not a monster.
"I-I'm fine," I said.
"Sit down now," he said. I started walking towards my bed, but he stopped me.
"Mrs. Hailey, don't walk!" he said, almost frustrated.
"What?" I asked.
He just asked me to sit down, didn't he?
"The pieces will go further deep. Just stand still until I..." he started looking here and there and then brought a chair where I was standing.
"Sit," he said. I sat down. It was at least better now.
