Chapter overview: Chapter 31 from He's My Ruthless Billionaire
In this standout chapter of the Internet novel He's My Ruthless Billionaire, Lexi introduces new challenges, powerful emotions, and major plot progress that captivate readers from beginning to end.
Mom has been in a coma for quite a while now. I didn't tell Hailey because she can't do anything and she'll only worry. She had a heart stroke and eventually, she drifted into a long sleep. The doctors said that there is a very low chance that she will ever turn normal. She might even die.
I am thankful that, that Robert is paying for her.
I could afford it... but that would be a lot to do.
I reached home. This isn't home anymore; it is just a building. No one is here, and living alone, is a curse.
Only Sara visits sometimes, and Lisa rarely does. Lisa has no role, being her best friend, what can she do here?
But Sara pays a visit to me every now and then.
I don't like it.
It reminds me of reality.
It reminds me of her.
I have been thinking of some ways to reach Hailey. She can escape, but she hasn't. It means she knows Robert's reality.
She was quite good in these things.
Being a doctor doesn't mean she wasn't in these things.
She loved detective and all this criminology stuff.
I wonder how much she likes it now.
But because she hasn't escaped...
Maybe the security is too tight...
Or maybe she likes it in there?
No, she can't!
How the hell can I think this?
She is definitely trapped there. I have to save her, no matter what.
I tried to track the location of the phone through which the call came. The original location, the public one, of Anderson Residence is different from where He and Hailey live.
When I was tracking, I remembered Hailey's words.
'Don't try to find me, please'
But why?
Will it create more troubles?
Should I really track her?
Y-yes, I should.
I must regret it a lot if this results in something and if I don't even try.
I tried to track it, but it looked highly encrypted.
I tried hacking it, but it was way too secure.
I forwarded the number to one of my best hackers.
I have a lot of connections in the Mafia and all these guys.
Recently, Robert went to an award ceremony. I would have met him, but I was not in the country and when I saw the flights, it wasn't possible to reach on time. Still, I tried but, it was impossible, I reached the next day morning. That is why I am here.
I don't feel like going back. I see here, we are kind of short on money, maybe that is the reason she had to take on a business job. I was in London because of some deal I was cracking. I have a small business.
I also have a large business, but... I prefer not to do that.
She should have told me; I would have sent some money. Why did she have to take this risk?
But it wasn't her fault... who thought such a big businessman was like this?
I received a message from Jake, the hacker.
"Help me, Max... please"
"..."
"It's okay," I said.
"Listen. Mrs. Hailey, he is very broke. He looks very strong, but he is not. He has a dreadful past. You need to support him at all costs. And yes-don't ever ask him about his past, please. He hates it"
"Okay... thank you"
"Bye, Mrs. Hailey"
"Bye"
I ended the call and quickly deleted the call history.
It was night and I was waiting for Robert to come into the room. He came after some time.
"You haven't slept?" he asked.
"No. I have to talk to you" I said, lying on the bed.
He slipped beside me and kept his hand below his head. "Hm?"
"What happened today?" I asked, "I need to know... why were you angry?"
He looked at me and then looked at the ceiling again.
"You don't need to know"
"I do, please"
He looked at me with rage. "I hate it when you don't listen to me"
I lowered my head and nodding, I looked the other way, and probably slept.
