I raised a brow at him. "I'm marked," I replied, motioning to my throat. "So you might want to turn yourself back around and find someone else to entertain you."

"Oh, please. Everyone knows marks are reversible. And it's obvious that mark doesn't mean much to you," Scott said. "You wouldn't be here otherwise."

As if triggered by his words, the mark started to thrum and itch slightly, signaling it had been a while without attention from Dominic. But this guy had completely sparked my interest. I promised I would give Dominic a chance, but was it real when his bite was messing with my head and my hormones? Removing it would let me make some clear decisions. And isn't that what the both of us deserve? The least I could do is hear this guy out.

"How are they reversible?"

"You have to betray it." Scott leaned towards me, the strong smell of alcohol rolling off of him. I grimaced and turned my head away, but his mouth touched the mark instead.

Instant pain erupted and my knees went weak, a gasp escaping my mouth. The man laughed breathlessly and wickedly, gripping my waist to hold me up. "See? You can feel it burning. That's a good sign."

I weakly pushed at him, but with the insane amount of pain coming from my shoulder and throat, I had no strength. Even as I started to whimper, he ignored me and kept kissing the mark. "The only unfortunate part is that the person who marked you will feel it too."

My eyes widened and I used all of my failing strength to get him away, but it still didn't do enough. "Stop! Stop it, stop it!" I snapped. "If you don't stop, we're both dead."

"By the time whoever it belongs to finds you, it'll be long gone. I'm only helping you, sweetheart. You should be thanking me."

I lashed out hard enough that he stepped away from me, but I was so clouded by pain that I fell onto my rear end. It was making me dizzy, just like before I had a fit when my body was fighting the mark. Arms scooped me up and Scott dragged me inside the house. Why wasn't anyone paying attention? It was obvious that I didn't want anything to do with him, and I saw people glancing at us, but their attention diverted away within seconds.

"C'mon, let's lay you down."

His hand cupped the back of my head gently, murmuring to me that it would be okay and that he would take me home soon. "Scott. Tomorrow you will go before the Elders and I to find a suitable punishment for your transgression against the future Luna and Queen," Dominic announced. "If I were you, I'd start praying to whatever God you believe in."

"Alpha Dom, come on, man. She was whoring herself around. You can't blame me for assuming she was available. If anyone here should go on trial, it's her for acting like a tramp and parading around a party," Scott snarled.

Dominic let out a growl so loud and deep that even my body shook with the power of it. He carefully pushed me behind him. "Jeff," he barked to the new beta. "Take Caroline to the car."

"No! Dominic, Dom, please," I whimpered. "Do this later. I just want to go home. I want to go home with you."

Dominic locked gazes with me for a short while before shaking his head. "No one, and I mean no one, is going to get away with speaking to you like that. And no man should get away with blaming a woman for his inability to control himself." Dominic turned back to Scott, who was looking less angry and more scared now. "When my father was king, do you know what punishment there was for sexually assaulting a mated female?"
