Chapter 692
“Good heavens!”
The sedan door opened. Daniel stepped out first. His face remained as polite as ever, but his stride was firm. Behind him, Liu emerged while straightening his suit jacket.
Naomi closed her eyes for a moment. “Of course it wouldn’t be that easy to get out.”
Liu knocked on the taxi window. The driver lowered it nervously.
“Sorry for the inconvenience. This passenger will be coming with us.”
“I’m not going,” Naomi said at once.
Liu inclined his head slightly toward her. “Miss Naomi, please don’t make me look bad this morning.”
“I’ll make sure to enjoy watching you look bad, Mr. Liu.”
A faint smile touched Liu’s lips. Then he instructed the man beside him to finish the rest of this morning’s task, bringing Naomi
back
Daniel opened the door on Naomi’s side. “Please step out, Miss Naomi.”
“I refuse.”
“Of course,” Daniel replied politely. “But I’ll still be taking you home.”
Naomi glared at both of them in fury. In the end, she got out on her own.
The ride back felt far longer than before. Naomi sat in the back seat of the sedan with her arms folded tightly, her face turned toward the window. Neither of the two men in front dared to start a conversation.
When they arrived at the mansion, she walked inside without waiting for anyone.
Lydia, who had been choosing flowers in the central hall, turned in surprise. “Where did you go, Naomi?”
Naomi let out a long breath and clicked her tongue in irritation. “Out for some fresh air.”
“You didn’t tell me anything.” Lydia walked toward her, concern written plainly across her face. “What happened?”
“It seems I’m living in a very expensive prison.”
Althea raised an eyebrow. “Why would you feel that way?”
Naomi did not answer. It felt rude to pour her anger onto the two women standing in front of her.
“Please forgive me, Mrs. Althea. And forgive my rudeness, Mrs. Lydia. I just want to go to my room.
Without waiting for any response from either woman, she went straight upstairs and shut her bedroom door harder than usual.
That, naturally, made Lydia and Althea exchange confused looks.
“Tell me what happened,” Lydia said to Liu.
All Liu could do was tell the truth about Naomi’s attempt to find her family’s graves.
Meanwhile, at the branch office of TnC Group, Cale was signing documents when Liu entered after finishing matters at the Miller residence.
“She’s angry,” Liu reported.
“I know.” Cale closed the file he had been reviewing, already understanding where Liu’s report was headed.

“She left in a taxi. Relying on a digital map and pure luck.”
Cale picked up another file and signed the last page without lifting his head. “Stubborn.”
Liu was silent for a moment. “Shouldn’t we tell her where the graves are? No matter what, she has the right.”
At last, Cale set down his pen. His gaze was cold yet calm as it settled on Liu.
“Not yet.”
“Because of Don Falcon?”
“Because there’s one more thing I need to finish first.”
Liu knew when to stop asking questions. Even so, he said quietly, “The longer you keep this from her, the greater her anger will become.”
“Let her.”
Not long after that, Naomi’s phone rang in her room. An unknown number, but she already knew who was calling.
She answered without a greeting.
“If you’re calling to tell me not to do anything, you might as well hang up now.”
Cale’s voice came through low and flat from the other end. “If you leave again without permission, Daniel will be one step behind you all day.”
“How bold of you,” Naomi clicked her tongue, displeasure sharp in her tone.
“Don’t make me give Daniel that order.”
Naomi rose from the bed. “You’re locking me up.”
“I’m protecting you.”
“I’m sick of hearing that sentence, Mr. Miller,” Naomi said, her voice rising. “I’m not your prisoner.”
“Get used to one thing in your life. You are within my reach, and to correct you, you are not my prisoner.”
“You treat me like one.” Naomi bit her lip, struggling to contain her anger. “I only wanted to visit my parents’ grave.”
There was a brief silence before Cale spoke again.
“That grave was moved a long time ago, and I’m doing the same as you. I’m trying to find out where.”
Naomi’s world seemed to stop for a second.
“What?”
