“We didn't find anything, Mr. Chris,” one of the Alpha Team members reported.

Chris nodded in understanding. Just as he had expected, Falcon had escaped. But why had he left two of his men behind in this place? Had he done it deliberately to divert his attention?

“Make sure Bravo Team brings back good news,” Chris said as he gathered Naomi's belongings. A tremor of worry and fear ran through him every time he thought about what the girl had gone through. He could never bear to imagine it, and he prayed he wasn't too late.

“Yes, sir,” one of the Alpha Team members replied, while the others quickly moved to secure every corner of the building to make sure no threats remained.

Chris walked down the narrow corridor toward one of the back rooms. His steps were steady, but his gaze remained alert. In front of him, a large-built man sat slumped against the wall with both hands tied behind his back. The man's face was covered in bruises, his breathing was ragged, and a thin stream of blood still trickled from his temple.

He was one of the men Falcon had left behind in this place. He should have been with another of his companions, but unfortunately, that man had fought back, forcing them to put a bullet straight through his chest.

Chris stopped a few steps in front of him.

“Sir,” one of the Alpha Team members said as he approached. “He refuses to talk.”

Chris gave a slight nod.

He crouched until his eyes were level with the man's. Chris kept his gaze fixed on the man in front of him.

“Where is Falcon?”

The man spat on the floor.

Chris simply watched him for a few seconds. “Your loyalty is quite impressive.”

There was no answer.

“But someone like you must know one thing.” Chris rose to his feet again. “Falcon isn't coming back to save anyone.” He took one of the tools from his pocket.
