Instead of catching whoever was staring at her, her gaze landed on a young man deep in conversation nearby.

He looked to be in his early thirties, undeniably handsome and charming, laughing effortlessly with the people around him.

Catching Winona's gaze, he turned slightly and offered a polite, acknowledging raise of his champagne flute.

He seamlessly resumed his conversation right after, seemingly paying her no further mind.

"Mrs. Murphy's niece invited him."

"Apparently, she's quite smitten with him, so Mrs. Murphy asked me for an extra invitation on the sly."
