"Claire I never got a chance to tell you how great you were in bed," Leon said and I slammed my menu down on the table.
"Really?" I hissed out and Caiden leaned back in his hair with his arms crossed over his chest.
"Oh this is great. I've been going out on a limb. It's nice to know that you really are a slut/prostitute," he said.
"He's just pissed that he hasn't experienced great sex."
"Stop! This is my girlfriend that you two assholes are talking about! I will be damned if I continue to sit here and listen to you all speak such nonsense," Nick hissed out and Ashton chuckled.
"Says the man whore."
"Nathan." All I had to do was say his name and he understood.
"Right, never again."
"Here's your drinks." The waitress interrupted.
"Thank you," I said and she nodded.
"You're welcome. Have you guys decided what you wanted?" And we all shook our heads." Okay, I'll be back in a few then to take your order."
"Who the fuck invited this dumb ass?" Caiden hissed out glaring at Leon.
"Who invited you?" Leon hissed back.
"If you all don't stop hissing at each other I'm going to put you in a cage. You aren't cats so shut the hell up." A familiar voice said. I looked up and gasped as I seen my best friend.
"Mia!" I jumped up, hugging her.
"Well who else did you think it would be?" She retorted hugging me back. Nathan pulled her in a hug too and after they released their embrace she pulled over a chair and took off her coat and scarf.
"How'd you know we would be here?" Nathan asked and Mia took off her sunglasses smirking.
"It's Halloween. I knew you wouldn't be anywhere else," she said stealing Caiden's menu out of his hands.
"Annoying bitch," he grumbled and Mia raised an eyebrow.
"I'd watch what you say to me," she said seriously before throwing the menu back on the table and snapping her fingers in the air to get the waitress's attention.
"Oh I'm sorry I didn't know there was another guest. What can I get you?" Mia told her whole order - drink included before we all told her our orders. She scribbled it all down and headed to the kitchen.
"Give me some aspirin," Caiden demanded and I raised an eyebrow.
"You aren't getting a please so I'd hurry up before I get anymore irritated with you," I gave him some from my purse before turning to Mia.
"How come you're here?"
"Do you really think I was going to miss spending Halloween with you two? I already missed your birthday," she said before she gasped as if she was suddenly remembering something.
"I couldn't resist. I got you a new skateboard, it's in my car," my eyes widened and I let a smile appear on my face.
"I love you," I said giving her another hug. Nathan decided to pause his conversation with Cam and join ours again.
"What did you get me?"
"I seriously don't think today is a good day to talk abou-" Nick started.
"What the fuck did you just say to me?" Caiden hissed his face was dark and he looked so menacing as he stood up I almost went and hide in a corner. No one made any sounds and stayed perfectly still almost as if we were all frozen to our seats.
"I don't even know why the fuck I'm here. I'm obviously not welcomed," he said his cold hazel eyes looking straight at me as he said the last part.
"Caiden, man-" Nick started but he shook his head.
"It amazes me how one slutty girl can turn you against your best friend, you know the one who've you known for over 20 years." Anyone with eyes could see how deep Caiden cut Nick with his words," I'll leave you all to enjoy yourselves," he said calmly before making his way toward the door.
"Oh and Happy fucking Halloween," he said before leaving the restaurant. I didn't care that people were now looking at our table since I was now deep in my thoughts. Caiden's face showed he was heartbroken. He may be twenty something years old, but it didn't matter even someone with a heart and soul as cold as ice needed someone to be their fire. At that moment I knew I couldn't be that fire. I may have confidence and I may be stubborn at times, but those small qualities definitely don't mean I can be that flame.
Hate to break it to you but someone like him is fireproof.
Not even Caiden Anderson is fireproof. It's all only a facade. Wiping my mouth with my napkin slowly I stood up.
"Excuse me," I mumbled to the silent table. I exited the restaurant looking for a certain someone. My eyes caught a figure heading toward the park. I watched for a moment as he walked down a path slowly disappearing. Everything about him screamed stay away, but that didn't stop me as I ran down the sidewalk a little before I ran straight across the street just barely missing an oncoming car. I continued to run and didn't stop till my arms were wrapped around his waist.
"What the-" He paused when he saw it was me and scowled. "Why the f-"
"I'm sorry," I mumbled cutting him off. "I may not know what made you like this but I do know whatever happened to you, you didn't deserve it. It's taken me quite a few months but I get it now. You push people away because you don't want to let them in. You don't want them to see that small flame, that small speck of hope. But it's too late."
"Caiden Anderson, I've already seen that speck of hope and I'll tell you right now there is nothing you can do to push me away right now. Especially when I can see how much you are hurting," his arms wrapped around me and squeezed me tightly, but not so much to where it would hurt. But in the next moment something happened that I didn't expect to ever happen. Something so strange and foreign.
One lone tear fell onto my face.
The thing was the tear didn't fall from my eyes. What added to my surprise was there were more after.
