"No," I said quietly. He nodded and stood up. When he left the room, I followed him. We stopped at a room that anyone could tell was a guest room. The bed had on those hideous bed sheets and comforter that no one really liked, so they gave it to their guest to stare at while they tried to fall asleep. There was also a nightstand table, a few dressers, and a big mirror. Like I wanted to look at myself now! I knew I was a complete mess, but why was Jace staring at me?
"What?" I asked him.
Jace turned red and I smirked. It was cute, especially since he was uncomfortable. "Oh, nothing," he said. "You okay to go to sleep now?"
"Yeah, I'll be fine," I said as I walked towards the bed. He started to leave. "Jace?"
He turned around and waited for me to say something. I wanted to tell him what he meant to me and how glad I was that he had saved me tonight, but I chickened out. Never have I been able to say what I felt most of the time. I guess I just wasn't that type of person.
"Thank you for saving me," I said simply instead. His eyes could tell that he knew I was holding back.
"Sure," he said. "No problem.
"Goodnight."
"Sleep well, Danielle," Jace whispered as he left.
Damn it! There it was again. Why couldn't he make this easier for me? He didn't have to call me by my full name. I hated that. Especially from him!
Silently I crawled into bed. I just wanted to forget now. Forget everything that had happened. And how awful and mean I was. Jace loved me. I knew he did, even though we had only met yesterday. Why couldn't I allow myself to love him back?
Really, I knew my answer. I was afraid. I was afraid to let myself be happy for once in my life. Something was always there in the back of my mind saying it wouldn't last. That it was all too good to be true. Jace was.
I mean, he had the perfect life. Two parents that both loved him, an older sister, a brother-in-law, a pack, and a place to call home. The only thing missing was a mate. Sucks that it's me. Out of everything he had, I was the weakest link. The thing that doesn't belong.
I fell down hard on my side and crashed into a rock. Still conscious, but hurting. I looked at my side and it was bleeding profusely. What scared me the most was that I didn't heal. Blood just kept seeping from the wound. I panicked then. Everything hurt and my vision was getting blurry.
He was there then. A jet black wolf. I cringed and tried to make myself as small as possible. No luck. The wolf smiled an evil grin at me and spoke to me through his mind. "Well, Danielle, looks like you've gotten yourself into a little 'situation'. Being a lone she-wolf isn't always the best option now is it?"
"Please," I begged him. "Don't hurt me. I didn't do anything wrong. Please." My eyes were wide with fright and my tail hung low. I crouch down so my stomach hit the forest floor. A sign of submission.
But he just laughed and then growled. "You're mine now," he said and then he lunged at me.
*~ End of Dream~*
I woke up with a start. My breaths came in quickly like I didn't have enough air to breath. The room was dark and I was still scared to the verge of tears. I threw off covers of my bed. Screw this!
