Dani rested an elbow on the table and put a hand on her head. "I wrote you a note, Jace."

"I'm not saying you didn't," I whispered. "I just said I didn't get it."

She groaned and got up. "Stay," she told me like I was a dog. Then left to go into the bathroom. I heard her talking with Katie. Wolf senses, you've got to love.

"I have to go," Dani said.

"Why?" Katie asked.

"Because I need to prove him wrong. And make him realize how stupid he's being," Dani said. Yeah, thanks for that, I though sarcastically.

I heard Katie giggle. 'Go ahead," she said. Dani started to leave, but Katie must've grabbed her arm or something. 'But be nice and tell him!" she said. Tell me what?

Dani sighed, but didn't reply. Did she nod or shake or head? Then, I saw them come out of the bathroom. I stood up and Dani grabbed my arm dragging me to the door.

"Bye, Katie," I called. "Nice meeting you!" She didn't get a chance to reply because Dani pulled me harsher. "Ow," I said once we were outside. "What was that for?" I asked.

"I'm mad at you," Dani said. "Where's your truck?"

"I didn't bring it," I said. "I traveled on all fours. Come on."

Dani's P.O.V.

Great. He was an idiot. I mean he couldn't have even bothered to look? The wind must've blown it off the nightstand. Was he in such a panic that he couldn't look for one minute?

What did he think could've happen to me? I can take care of myself anyway. Last night was just a freak thing that would happen once in a lifetime, if not even that. Lightning never strikes in the same place, right? I've been alone for about two years now as a wolf. I think I'm pretty capable of being on my own.

When we got to the forest away from where people could see us, Jace started to remove his clothes... right in front of me. I quickly turned around. "Whoa!" I said. "A little warning next time. Jeez."

I could tell by his tone that he was smiling. "I don't mind being naked in front of you," he said.

"Sure you did, almighty alpha," I taunted as I trotted off. He followed like a little puppy dog.

When we got to the house, we both shifted and put on clothes. I took him to his room and led him in. The nightstand table was bare.

"See, I -" Jace began, but I silenced him.

I knelt down next to the table and looked around. Then, I searched under the bed and came out with a piece of paper. When I went back up to him and showed him the paper.

"Who leaves a note for someone under a bed?" he asked.

"The wind blew it off the table, dumb-ass," I said. "Do you really think I would just leave without an explanation?"

He looked at me then with anger in his eyes. "I don't know," he said. "You don't let me know you, Dani! You keep everything bottled up and don't tell me!"

Did he really just say that? I thought he understood. He said he understood. I shook my head and turned the paper over. I got a pen and wrote on it in all caps.
