Now back to my dad. He happened to come across a rogue. Sure, he was careful not to let it bite him, but it came down to a fight. Being the good alpha he was, he needed to protect the pack. Yes, he did end up saving us, but he was bit in the process. I hated that he had to die a slow, painful death, but at the time we had no remedy.

When I became alpha due to his death and the fact that I was his son, alpha blood ran through me, I ordered a search for a cure to the deadly rogue bite. I didn't want anyone else to suffer the same fate as my dad did.

Thankfully, my mom was still alive. I'd never seen her in so much pain as when my dad had died. There was nothing that could be done to help her, but she knew that there was nothing that could be done. So, she moved on. All she knew was that she couldn't relive the past, and I needed help with my new responsibilities.

My thoughts were interrupted when my beta came into my office. His name was Henry and he was my best friend. He had already mated with a girl named Savannah. No doubt, she was pretty what with her blonde hair and blue eyes, but a male never thought about a claimed female that way. They only thought about their own mate, but I had none, yet.

"What's up?" I asked Henry, not completely focused as I went through some papers.

He told me straight out to catch my attention. That is what he'd always do when I was distracted: get to the main point. "A lone she-wolf lives in this town."

Okay, I wasn't expecting that. We'd done some research on this area to find out if there was a pack here. When we found out that it was empty, in which we thought completely, we moved in. I hadn't considered otherwise. Usually we knew of loners. "What? Is she a rogue?"

Henry shook his head. "No, she's alone. She says she's lived here her whole life, but she's the only one. I can't see how that's possible. If she's from here originally, she had to come from other werewolves."

"You're right. We should find out more about her. Get someone to watch her and I'll-"

Tonight, I stopped and looked up at the moon. Its light was mesmerizing, and when I looked back down, I saw her. She was over by a small stream, taking a drink.

It was the lone she-wolf. Her scent was unfamiliar to me, but the things it did to me were... indescribable. All I wanted to do was be near her. She was beautiful in every way. I wanted her like nothing I'd ever wanted before. The lone wolf that lived here, was my mate.

Without knowing, I began moving closer to her. When she heard me, she surprised me. Apparently, she didn't realize that we were mates. She got in her defensive stance, bared her teeth at me, and growled, like I was the enemy. Didn't she feel the pull between us?

Mates usually had a pull between them. It ensured them that they were true mates. When they felt the pull towards each other, all they wanted to do was be together. They wanted to hug and kiss and touch each other. Never did they want to let the other go.
