I decided to do what he says for now. But marriage... that too, this soon? I need to postpone this and I will ask him for some days to adjust to the surroundings and... him.
I stood up to see if my phone was with me. I started searching vigorously and finally found something- but wait. It was a new phone.
I didn't know it was for me, until I found a printed sheet right next to it.
"This is Vincent Smith. Maybe not the best person you will ever meet, but I am not as bad as your ex, Chris. Try to give me a chance. I may look demanding and dangerous. I may seem to be the cruelest man, and maybe I am- but I have my reasons. You understand that, right? Sometimes the best way is to give it a chance and see if it works. Our parents decided our marriage and I have waited till now because tomorrow is your birthday and you will turn 26. I need to marry you on the day you turn 26. Now, let's talk about Chris. He betrayed you, love. He is with Heather right now- probably making love to her. You know that he didn't love you, right? But don't be sad, I do and I will take care of you forever. I have been in love with you since the start. Don't be afraid of me, and just answer one question. Will you marry me?
PS. This phone is your welcome gift to your new life :)"
I was shocked reading it. It was a cherishing message and... so unlike him. Did he write it? Does he really love me? But...
Oh crap, in all this shit, I totally forgot about my birthday. It is tomorrow... and I have to marry him. Will this birthday be the best or the worst? And what about Lara? He will let me be with her, right? Or will he make me underground... and invisible like him? She is the only family I have. No, this will not happen. I will give him a chance as he wants, but I want Lara with me.
Vincent
"Yes," I accepted, and then started going down to the basement.
Meeting Ashley for the first time was... cute. Yeah, it is crazy for me to find interest in cute things. She isn't a thing now, is she? She is the one who I had an eye on from the start. I have been watching over her for many years and finally, it is the day, tomorrow, when she will be mine. I can't really wait.
As I reached down, David bowed to me. I smiled slightly and he was shocked.
"B-Boss, did you smile?"
"Ashley's here, after all," I went further in the basement and he followed me.
"Is the wedding plan ready?" I asked him, he nodded.
"Yes. I personally checked every little thing"
"Every?" I asked to confirm.
"Yes. Trust me, sir"
"Sure"
He knew the sarcasm, so he sighed. "I did check everything, sir"
"Good"
I never trusted anything. I know, we work together and he knows my ninety-percent secrets, but still, I don't "trust" anyone.
Still, if you ask, he is the one I trust the most if you can call it that.
I went to my other men. They were standing like robots- they are always like that, and they need to be.
"Is this house secure?"
"99%--"
She looked at me with the same expression on her face, which I haven't been able to interpret till now.
She extended her hand slowly and I looked at her with an interesting face. A small smile played on my lips as her hand came near my hand and she held it.
I took a step and kept my hand on her scalp and she came out of her world. We were quite close and she left my hand immediately.
"Ah... I-I..." she stuttered and I smirked. My hand on her hair felt so good to me, did it have the same effect on her?
"I... I was..." she continued.
I bent down a little to match her height and she looked at me shocked.
"Don't stutter, it's alright"
"R-really?"
"Yes"
"You... You are so good, so why do people..." her voice trailed off.
"I am not good; I am not bad. I am good to people who are good and worst to the bad ones"
She nodded slowly. "That is normal... isn't it? I don't feel bad around you..."
