Cedric brought Noelle back to her hospital room. He was being cautious, as if Noelle were made of glass. When he pulled the blanket up to cover her, he noticed her hand still gripping his as though he were her last lifeline.

Cedric melted at the sight. He sat quietly at her bedside and gently patted her head. What had scared her earlier?

Just then, Alfred walked in. "Is Nelly okay? I just spoke to the hospital director. He said everything went smoothly."

Alfred had thought something had gone wrong from the way things looked earlier.

Cedric glanced at the sleeping Noelle and lowered his voice. "The procedure went well, but she woke up at the end."

He recounted everything.

Alfred's expression turned solemn. "Knowing Nelly, there's more going on here."

"I think so, too," Cedric replied.

Alfred snorted. "Hmph. None of them from the Liddell family is any good. Look at what they've done to my poor Nelly."

Cedric gave him a look. "What do you mean, your Nelly?"

Alfred cleared his throat. "Fine, your Nelly. Are you happy now?"

It was only then that Cedric looked away. "If our suspicion is true, I'll never let the Liddells get away with it."

"Of course, we have to get revenge for Nelly. But why didn't she ever bring it up?" Alfred was confused. "We've always been close and know a lot about what she went through in the Liddell family. But she's never mentioned anything about Carl."

Cedric pursed his lips. "I've looked into it. Carl left to research on that island very early on. He never came back."

Alfred hummed. "How early are we talking?"

Cedric thought about it. "A few years after the Liddell family scandal. He graduated early from university and left right away."
