Soon, the food from L Bistro was delivered. Noelle only brought it up as an excuse. But to her surprise, her stomach growled when she saw the food.

After Noelle finished eating, Mia and Grace arrived. Eugene stood at the doorway while Cedric and Alfred left the room to give the girls some privacy.

Cedric turned to Eugene. "Any updates on Carl?"

"I heard that the research on that island is very extensive. And they experiment on human test subjects. Many terminally ill patients volunteer to undergo treatment. But we haven't uncovered if there's anything shady behind the scenes." Eugene looked at Cedric. "Did you not ask Noelle?"

Cedric could have just asked Noelle.

Cedric toyed with a lighter. But in the end, he didn't light a cigarette. "She doesn't want to bring it up, and I don't want her to relive it either."

Alfred nodded. "True, we shouldn't ask about it if Nelly doesn't wish to talk."

Eugene added, "Anyway, Carl is a strange guy. He doesn't have any moral grounds, nor does he get close to anyone. He's a very isolated person."

Cedric thought about Carl's behavior in the operating room and couldn't shake his uneasiness. But now wasn't the right time to ask questions.

Inside the room, Noelle got her phone back and saw missed calls from the Liddells and messages from Carl asking if she was awake.

Mia spoke up, "We were scared to death last night. Thank goodness a certain someone came down from a helicopter to save you."

Grace looked at Noelle. "After this whole ordeal, I think that someone might not be so bad after all."

Cedric had always treated Noelle well, aside from the lies.

Noelle fell silent for a moment. "I know."

Besides, she now remembered everything about the car accident back then.
