Noelle stared warily at the driver. It was no wonder he'd been so persistent. If he were a legitimate cab driver, he wouldn't have wasted so much time here arguing.

After she exposed him, the driver's expression faltered slightly before he cursed under his breath. "If I'm not your driver, why did you waste my time talking to me?"

With that, he started the engine and drove off. But something didn't sit right with Noelle. She looked around and found that the streets were empty. There was no one else nearby.

If the driver had mistaken her for his passenger, wouldn't he have waited longer to confirm? Why would he lose his temper and leave in such a rush?

Something was clearly off. Fortunately, Cedric had said he'd come to pick her up, which was why she'd canceled the order. If the driver had shown up first, she might have gotten in the wrong car, and the consequences would have been unbearable.

So, who sent the driver? Noelle thought about it and figured it most likely had something to do with the Merlocks. Could Sean be involved?

About ten minutes later, Cedric's car pulled up in front of her.

As soon as Noelle got in, she asked, "How are things going over there? Do you think Sean might have gotten wind and escaped?"

Last time, Noelle had been so confident they would catch him, only for the plan to fall apart. They'd only managed to arrest the accomplice and not Sean.

"No. Our people checked, and he's still at the car dealership."

"That's great!" Noelle sighed in relief. Did that mean the weird cab driver incident wasn't related to Sean at all?

"Why are you suddenly so on edge? Did something happen that you haven't told me?"

Noelle hesitated before saying, "It's nothing. I was just so sure of myself, and when things didn't work out, it really got to me."
