This is bad news. Something about this felt like walking into a trap that I had helped in building. I sat on the edge of my bed, still in my bathrobe as I stared at the dress that I had picked out for tonight like it would bite me.

I wasn’t sure if it was fear that was pooling in my stomach or guilt… or maybe the both. Every part of this felt wrong, but I couldn’t say no. Not to Liam, not after everything we had done. And definitely not after they had walked up to me all bruised and burst up.

Liam thought Kye was dangerous, but I knew the reality of this. Kye is bad news.

I had no idea what both of them were thinking, but deep down, I knew it was nothing more than bad news.

“This isn’t a dinner,” I murmured to myself. “It’s a fucking setup.”

Liam had said the plan was simple. All we had to do was gain Kye’s trust, make him feel like we believed him, like we were laying him in. And when he met his guard down, we would get the password to his iCloud and wipe away the rest of the footage clean.

It sounded easy when he said it. It always did. Just like the last time.

But the truth sat heavy in my chest. I was starting to like the twisted psycho, and I hated myself for it. Every time he looked at me like I belonged to him, my body tingled in a way that I didn’t want to admit. It wasn’t fear anymore, it was worse… It was want, need, curiosity and maybe even a little bit of hope. God, I’m so screwed.

Earlier that day, after the decision with Kye, Liam and I had talked. Or argued. Depends on how you see it.

“This is the best shot we have,” he had said in the car, steering with one hand, tapping his fingers against the wheel like he had too much energy and nowhere to put it. “You need to chill, everything will be fine. Sure, he knew that we tried to delete the video but for someone like Kye, using aggression isn’t the way to go.”
