Damon:

“What the fucking hell was that?” I asked, glaring at Lysandra. She smirked as she looked me in the eye, knowing well what she did, knowing what she had managed to ruin, what she was breaking.

“If you didn’t want it to happen, you could have stepped back or pushed me away a little sooner, no?” She asked, taking a step toward me. She extended her hand to put on my chest, but I grabbed it my air as I wrapped my hand around her wrist, my grip tight.

“Touch me again, and trust me, I am going to make you regret even thinking of crossing me.” I said, lowering my voice, my tone intimidating. Her eyes widened and I saw her fear in her eyes, but I didn’t give her time to respond before stepping back.

Her words, however, repeated in my head like a broken curse. But it wasn’t about timing. It was about hesitation. The one moment I hesitated, just long enough for Sienna to see. Just long enough for her and think that I would be willing to choose someone else, even doubt it.

And to make matters worse, it was the look in her eyes that tore me apart.

It wasn’t anger.

It was worse.

It was disappointment.

The door to Lysandra’s office slammed behind me. She was yelling something, calling after me, but I didn’t care. Her voice faded the second I stepped into the hallway, because all I could hear was Sienna’s voice, steady and calm, saying; “To think I had a moment of pity for you.”

She didn’t yell. She didn’t flinch. She didn’t snap. She didn’t even look at me.

She left.

And now she was cold. Distant.

Just like I taught her to be.

But I didn’t want that anymore.

I stormed toward her office, ignoring the startled glances from my employees. I didn’t knock. I opened the door and stepped in. She was at her desk, staring down at a report she wasn’t even reading.

She looked up when she heard the door.

Our eyes locked.

“You shouldn’t be here,” she said quietly. “I already made it clear to Ethan that I didn’t want to see anyone.”

“Tough, but I doubt that you would think that Ethan would stop me from coming.” I replied, stepping inside and shutting the door behind me. “And I also don’t really care.”

She stood up, as if she wanted to leave.

“You saw what you wanted to see,” I said. “But you didn’t stay long enough to see what happened next. You didn’t even wait for me to try and explain what happened.”

“I don’t need to see more, Damon.” Her voice was too calm. Too even. “You don’t have to explain. You’ve made it clear who she is, and what I am not. All too many times, I understood the comparison between us.

She moved to grab her bag, but I stepped in front of her.

“I don’t want her,” I said, my voice low. “I don’t want anyone but you.”

Sienna swallowed, her throat bobbing slightly. “Then why didn’t you move sooner? Why did you hesitate?”

I didn’t have an answer.

So I gave her something else.

My hands slid into her hair as I pulled her in and kissed her, rough, desperate, full of all the words I couldn’t say. Her breath hitched, but she didn’t push me away. She gripped my shirt, her lips parting against mine as her body melted into mine.

And I couldn’t stop.

I didn’t want to.

I walked her backward until the edge of her desk hit the back of her thighs. Her breath was shallow, her pupils dilated, her hands trembling as she reached up to grip my jaw.

Her cry of release was the most beautiful sound I’d ever heard.

And I followed right after her, burying my face in the curve of her neck as I lost myself in her, completely.

When the silence returned, it wasn’t empty.

It was full.

Breathless.

She lay beneath me, her fingers tracing lazy circles on my back. I lifted my head, brushing her damp hair away from her flushed face.

“You’re everything,” I whispered. “And I never, not for a second, want you to doubt that.”

She blinked up at me. “You didn’t even lock the door.”

I smiled. “I believe the whole building knew that I was in here anyway. If they wanted a show, they were more than welcome for it.”

Her laugh was quiet… but real.

I pressed a kiss to her lips, softer this time, and finally rested my forehead against hers.

Because whatever this was… whatever it had become…

I wasn’t letting it go.

Not this time.
