Chapter 110

Vaughn Enterprises, President’s Office

After finishing his report, Secretary Burnett tucked his tablet under his arm and hesitated for a moment before finally voicing the thought that had been nagging at him.

“Mr. Vaughn, today is the–well, today is the final round of the ALI Group Mathematics Competition.”

Harrison sat behind his desk, having just signed a stack of documents. A Montblanc pen worth a small fortune spun idly between his fingers. His sculpted features betrayed no emotion.

“You seem awfully interested in my ex–wife,” he remarked coolly.

The chill in Harrison’s tone made Burnett tense. Under his boss’s invisible pressure, he instinctively lowered his gaze.

“Every year after the ALI Math Competition, Vaughn Enterprises extends internship offers to the top twenty finalists. If Selene manages to make it into the top twenty…” He couldn’t quite imagine what things would be like if Selene and Harrison were to work under the same roof. If she really did join the company, Burnett would have to warn the entire staff in advance–not that anyone would dare cross her.

Harrison’s reply was utterly indifferent. “If she makes it into the top twenty, then she’s got some talent. Offer her a position. Whether she actually gets through the door at Vaughn Enterprises… well, that depends on my mood.”

A trace of mockery flickered in his eyes. The moment Selene had filed for divorce, she’d signed up for the ALI Math Competition. She was desperate to prove herself to him. She wanted him to recognize her worth. Silently, she was begging–for her husband and her son–to love her again.

The thought made something dark flash through Harrison’s eyes. Now that he’d taken back the title of Mrs. Vaughn, it wouldn’t matter how hard she tried to make herself seen. He’d never look back. He’d never spare her another glance.

His phone rang.

It was his mother, Gemma. Harrison frowned, but answered anyway.

Her voice came crackling down the line. “Harrison, did you look at those profiles sent you? The eligible young women? Is there anyone you like? We can set up

meetings for this weekend!

Ever since his divorce from Selene, Gemma had been determined to set him up with someone new. She’d emailed him portfolios of every socialite within a hundred miles. He hadn’t opened a single one.

“Mom, mind your own business. I don’t want to talk about this,” he said, voice cold and clipped.

But Gemma was undeterred. “I’m not just doing this for you, you know! I’m doing this for Damien! He’s only five. Are you planning for him to grow up without a mother?”

But Gemma’s voice grew urgent. “Harrison, who’s Luna? Is she from around here?
